For 3 reasons:

1. To reduce tyre flex. Low profile stretched tyres make the cars handling predictable and stable.

2. So you can lower the car and set the toe and camber you want without tyres scrubbing on guards.

3. it’s a drifting respect thing and it looks good.

my car is 'clean' not 'rice'. get with the program.

Original Superbees were yellow also. I had a plum crazy Demon, Black 68 Charger R/T and a Red 68 340S Barracuda besides others.

I know it's a love it or hate it color, but I have to admit it doesn't show
dirt the second after washing it like my black cars did.

I remember before I even started heavily modding my old piece of **** I was running 13.5 at like 102mph... haha ****. By the time I had the horsepower to run 129mph the car was already well into the low 12s, launching slowly so as not to grenade the trans and diffs.

His times are very consistent for Stage 2 SS's, they get NO traction whatsoever, so yes, his 60 foot time is probably near 3 seconds but when they stick they GO.

Stretching tires is about style, PERIOD. It serves no other purpose, and on german cars, I dig it sometimes.
