fusion doesnt go past iron under normal circumstances.... you need giant mega stars going super nova.

any element beyond iron comes from a super nova

NAVAIR Weapons Division works fast apparently.

Got a letter, saying they recevied my request 26Jan10. It has been assigned reference number NAWCWD20100021. (Apparently I am one the early bird list this year by the number!)

They say the records search will only encompass records in exsitance by 26Jan10. They also say my full fee waiver request was not robust enough. (No kidding boys, the explanation block on the form does not give you space for any degree of latitude...). Although they did give me some additional gudelines to help justify the total free part.

All that said, they have granted me the 2 hours, 100 pages bit. They say that my search criteria was broad and will run up the bill. So to that end they have asked for me to either agree to the money (Hat Tip to Chrismb) or tell them which parts are most meanful to me for the 2hours, 100 pages. I have TEN BUSINESS DAYS from 27Jan10 to respond or they will close the file.

So what should I focus the search to? WB7 Peer review package and peer review results? Answer fast boys.

I the mean time I will put together an appeal on the cost part for additional info.

At this time, I have not yet heard from ONR.

Cheers!

Posting (finally) in this (u heard it here fifth) epic thread  of looming failz.

Not only do we have to "make the sun on earth" but it does it produce so much goddam sudden power out that handling the sudden wallop might be a real bastard? You think? Hmmm We have a hard enough time handling a simple lightning bolt. How are we going to handle 10000x's that power out?

Not that I know what po would be, given that your pi = "500 times the entire output of the United States of America" at any given moment ...

Are you seeing a new picture now about how fukn hard this will be?

Oh but there's more ...
Sure there's no problem with "nuklar fuel wastage". You realize that this mass, being suspended by magnets, is at 11,000 degrees fahrenheit. rite? Not sure how much mass it will have, and at some point it is suppose to be SELF SUSTAINING ...

o****.

Being a fanbois just doesn't work does it? lolerlaserplane defense anyone? No?

Anyways, we shall see how this pans out
 , hehee not really.

However, I have no doubt that success will be ours in a years time - heck I can almost see the headlines now:

laser that "8000x energy output of the entire US sustained for a billionth of a second, new magnet design ..." WE couldn't measure the po it was off the scale ...."

Dotted for future reference.

Will troll if ugly head is raised in a year's time.

Why is arsin such a ****ing ****** 100% of the time?

That post doesn't even rank picking apart. It's completely meaningless drivel. Textual vomit from an intellectual hypochondriac.

Fusion is a great long term solution, but unless we get a breakthrough soon (Farnsworth?), then we should start ramping up on something that we know we can do, and has enough legs to take us a good distance. As one or two others have said, that could be Thorium.

A bit long, but he makes a good case.

Why are most religious people the most close minded and negative about life?

There doesn't seem to be nothing common about common sense.

I know you did FNGRBang, but we are dealing with hardcore fanbois. You have to keep repeating the obvious. Even then, the fanbois nerd instinct still controls and directs the brain, thereby arresting cognitive function, as Data well knows (read the first comment in the link ) .

One must be determined, to separate nerd from illusion.

i dont think you understand the difference between engines and fuel sources to drive said engines...
also you're making up quotes which is dumb

one of the biggest obsticles to using Thorium is the fact that North Korea owns a whole hell of a lot of it. Politicial realities being what they are, we dont' want to develop anything that allows north korea to export materials and gain wealth to support their crazy regime

sad but true

edit:
a 10x10m sphere wouldn't ever go into a plane

polywell fusion would be ship based, ground based, space based
