*Shoot the spies. If there is a guy standing by a sentry doing nothing and it gets sapped.... shoot the ****er.

*Also, I know it says 'defend', but seriously, the best defense is a good offense, push those ****ers back. Don't let them all get ubered up with a couple of heavies and rush in and kill everyone before taking the point.

*Use sticky bombs around corners and to take out turrets. An engineer can't repair a turret if it's blown up by enough stickies. To counter this:

*You can shoot (with a shotgun or similiar weapon) sticky bombs to move them out of the way, you don't have to walk on them and get blown up.

*Before the match starts, on some maps, you can rocket jump/sticky jump and have a medic heal you, this will get the medics uber up quicker.

*A turret with an engineer behind it can repair it constantly. Even an ubered heavy can't take down a turret if he's too far away. However, a turret can only lock on to one person at a time, so if the uber is taking fire from the sentry, it's not shooting anyone else, so you can feel free to kill the sentry during this time.

Are u referring to the retard heavies that try to shoot something 500 yards away instead of shooting the 2 guys shotgunning the medic?

*Firing rockets at long range is more effective when you don't try to aim at anyone's feet. If you fire it parallel to the ground it has a better chance of hitting someone running around when it passes by.

* The Pyro's Hi-Do-Ken won't actually kill anyone... no matter how close you you get
*The Pyro's Flamer is a very short ranged weapon. Do not chase people with it, that's what a shotgun is for.

* You can charge the Demoman's Sticky Bombs and launch them across the map by holding down the fire button.

*When a heavy and medic appear as 'bright blue' or 'bright red', run the other way if you don't have explosives based weapons. If you are a demoman or soldier, feel free to shoot at them while you run away, it'll **** with his aim and may allow your teammates to escape.

*The best overall 'weapon' in the game is the uber a medic gets for 10 seconds. A couple of ubered heavies will tear **** up. or make everyone retreat.

more people need to realize this ****.

an ubered heavy to take out turrets is great if they are fairly close, but if the turrets are at their max range, a heavy doesnt do a good job. that is where a soldier or demo needs to let the ubered heavy take the sentry fire then run out and blow some **** up. OR god forbid the medic realize this and uber the soldier/demo so they can run out and take care of the turrets.

btw - how do the 'power up' shots work in the game? (like the blue rox and the charged demo pills) it seems kinda random...i havent figured out a pattern per se.

I've read that it's based on your personal score, the specifics of it, no idea. I'd assume the more points you have, the more crits you get.

Also, does anyone know how the turret chooses which target to hit? I think if you get closer than it's current target, it'll switch to you.

The better you are doing (killing more people, capturing points, defending points), the more criticals (power up shots) you will get. This was explained in the commentary. This is to help people keep a 'hot streak' going until they die.

Thanks for the info. Speaking as a person who never played the original, I get the concept but the nuances can put you at a vast disadvantage if you are unaware of them. That and having no manual...

*If you are a heavy, and you are ubered, you don't have to shoot at people from 5 miles away, feel free to 'rush' at them.. it will make them flee, giving your team enough time to push the battle forward.

*If you are a spy, be a useful spy. Don't just stand around in their base 'hidden' because you can... Kill turrets and take out medics and heavies. You can usually kill them both before they figure it out. Sure you may die, but you got 2 kills to their 1, and took down an offensive powerhouse.

retarded tip/trick
if a engr is crouching by sentry and dispenser you can sap both, stab him, redisguise, and sap them again before he can clean them off and the sentry can target you. so if an engi is by himself its pretty easy to kill him + his stuff.

you can also normally time this to get a backstab when he turns to get rid of the sapper on his dispenser.

obviously depends on location of stuff but yea.
