Also, the thing about the dread kills that confuses me is: were they attacking without fleet support? 1 dictor killed, no type of support ship on it's killmail?

Well, logon trap or not, you don't bring out the dreads without the support to keep them safe. To me, it's a valid tactic, especially when you have an enemy that will not fight you, that only waits until you are offline to play POS ping-pong.
