Lord of the nerds

That sucks.

And here's another one since Two Towers is now on:
Where the fuck were the Nazgul between Weathertop (I think?) and the Dead Marshes?
I mean
A lot of time passed.
Were they just sitting around pulling on their spectral dicks? Frodo puts on the ring to escape Boromir, so they should know exactly where he was.

I think they're just sitting around in Mordor for the most part, making steamy orc on necro pornos.

So does he physically supplant Saruman and take his powers, or is it more of a symbolic "replacement"?

debatable.

but essentially gandalf the white took over as the head of the istari and assumed his place as 'the wiser and the more powerful in the long-run' (quoting from memory, I'll have to dig out my copy of the silmarillion at this rate)

and as for the nazgul, the way I always understood it was that they're not undead, they're just never, ever allowed to die

edit: saruman doesnt have all his powers, all he has at the end is his skill at dissembly, and even that fails him

I see.

And here's another:
Why do the black people side with Sauron?
And where do they come from?

same reason why the 'help' (sam) is a retarded faggot, it was the classism/racism that was endemic at the time

and no, 'undead' generally means that they have to die first ;) the nazgul were just ensnared by the 9 rings for so long that they whittled away to wraiths... wainriders, if I recall?

eagles were their own race, and didn't much interfere with the affairs of the other races...

furthermore on this topic... if the entire fate of middle earth (which im assuming includes this eagle "race") rested on frodo destroying the ring.... im sure this one eagle could have made an exception :p:

whole reason they ended up in the continent of middle earth that we 'know' about was cos galadriels uncle [pagy will probably correct me on this, since I vaguely remember] faenor stole the silmarils, and some of the elves turned rebel, notably 'burning the ships' after they landed

pretty warlike race actually, they'd just been around so long by the time of LOTR that they'd caved in to ennui
the noldor elves were pretty rebellious

needless to say many of them wanted to stay and wanted to fight sauron since they had a long standing history with opposing sauron's former master.

yeah which is why that reason is a bit shitty

but anyways, an eagle wouldn't have been able to destroy it. in fact, no one was... it was thrown in by accident.

sons of faenor and all that

and then manwe sends his herald to give the smackdown and usher in the 2nd age ;)

on another note though, talk about a tough break for turin

Isn't that basically the same thing?

Undead = not living, but unable to die
the are corporeal ghosts... so i guess you can call them undead... scary spirits...

they dont really have any power other than the witch king... the movie doesnt really show it but all the can do is basically scare the shit out of living creatures when they are near.

well or stab your ass with a nasty knife and kill you

Wait.
You're saying that it's impossible for anyone to destroy the ring?
I assumed that Frodo couldn't because he had been exposed to it for so long.
But you're saying that it's so seductive that nobody could destroy it willingly?

That is awesome. A suitably dark vision.

Doesn't Frodo get stabbed?

Along with some midget that gets his head lopped off?

it was my understanding that no one could destroy the ring willfully, not even a hobbit, the ring itself was just way too evil and would own you at the last second.

edit: remember that golem was a hobbit and he got insta owned by the ring, so while hobbits may have been more able to handle the evil, they were in no way immune. Also frodo gets downright evil in the books, in the movies they just make him look sick

i should be more specific... they were corporeal, but not necessarily a physical threat... imagine any joe blow with a sword.

the only one among them that was a significant physical threat was the witch king, and it was the witch king that stabbed frodo.

yep

depending on how you look at it, it was either ultimate damnation or ultimate salvation

its what sent boromir mad, and why gandalf and galadriel wouldnt go near it

its pretty typical of british fantasy/sci-fi though, we always assume the worst
