Lets say your house/apartment burned down tomorrow

i dont have renters insurance, my auto insurance company wanted me to get it though

i dont really have much stuff, my clothes are probably the only thing that i would have problems replacing easily, if i lost my tv/desktop pc/xbox/ps3 id be fine.

biggest costs would probably be furniture, electronics and clothes in some order. Kitchen stuff would be expensive as well

I have renter's insurance and my valuable belongings (skis, boat, etc.) are at non-home locations. I think everything would work out.

In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

renters insurance covers all your personal property, anywhere in the world*
besides autos, boats, other shit

also anomaly, if you get broken into and your gps/radar scanner/cd player (but not cds) and phone are stolen out of the car, auto insurance wont cover any of that, UNLESS it was permanently mounted in the car

i dont have anything in my car that isnt permanently mounted in it

it has a USB connection for my iphone

i also rent so i dont care about the kitchen and shit, i own a loveseat i use for video games, a desk for my pc, and a queen sized bed. i bet all of my possessions end up being $3k tops, the clothes being about half.

you're still pretty young so its reasonable. Although my sister had a fire in college, she had renters and recouped about 20-25k in insurance. clothes, computer, other possessions.

25K on trailer and 25K in posessions.

I'm one of those people who would like their house to burn or get blown over, i would come out ahead.

mmmm pizza bagels

if your fridge went out and all your food spoiled, could you cover it?

anomaly, with your 60k salary i'm sure you have more than 1500 in clothing. i have 2 suits worth over that.
pc being another 1000?

of course, as soon as i get some shit thats worth replacing ill be all over renters/homeowners insurance

based on the percentage chance that i lost everything compared to the price per year of renters insurance, i think its a bad choice for me.

two suits, probably $300 total. i wear them maybe twice a year now for funerals. most of the money is in my shirts which i wear to work everyday

My insurance is dirt cheap and covers me to like 35k or something like that. It would be nice to get new stuff.

arson is one of the only things insurance companies actually investigate and send people to jail over

just some tmyk stuff
