Stopped for the Night in Custer.
Badlands are a great place to hide bodies. You could fall down a crevasse and never be found. No way you're getting back up without a rope. Saw gloves and hats that people lost and just left. Did the loop from mile 110 to 131 from hwy 90. We hit all the overlooks and some of the short trails. My lady is bushed! There is a lookout near the end of the loop you can see MT Rushmore, like 50 miles away!
Bighorn sheep are cool.
Prairie dogs are awesome. We stopped in a stretch of road in the Badlands grassy area, and they were as far as you could see on both sides of the road. They peep to warn each other when they see you, it's hilarious. They could rule this land if they wanted to.
Wall Drug was a sight. You hit Wall on the way out of the Badlands back on 90. Tourist trap, and mostly just an indoor mall, but neat to see. I got a Deadwood shirt and ruined a perfectly good penny.
Mt Rushmore. They have one parking garage up, and another going up when we were there. Cranes and the whole works. A newer building with outdoor amphitheater, museum, gift shops, information, etc.
The Black Hills are sweet on the way from Rushmore to the Crazy Horse monument/ school/ library/ college/ slave labor camp. Crazy horse is ok, but we were too late to make the tour up to his dumb face. That would have been fun. They went all out on the welcome center. They have a whole community planned, Jonestown style.
We hit Custer just as it was getting dark, and found a nice place with a hot tub and pool. No more bawling cows all night!
