so they finally unlocked the download for me here in europe.. so i can at least pre-load it.. but it looks to me as if i can only download the complete game? how did you guys just get the key of D2D?

Rename pubdevlegal_splash.bik in your Steam\steamapps\common\br ink\base\video\assets folder

you can also rename the entire folder.. but maybe that removes all video?

As a person who played a decent amount of tribes, a lot of TF2, and CoD, would I enjoy this game?

From a gameplay standpoint I would say yes. It's very TF2ish, but with more guns, and customization and an interesting new movement system.

However, the Xbox version is currently the ****ty version that is receiving all the poor reviews. I assume most of the bug complaint will be patched at somepoint though.

I feel like I would rather play it on PC, but right now all I have is a 2 year old Macbook, so no dice there.

Maybe in a few months I'll have a decent box up and running.

BF3 (beta?) will be out in a few months, I think most people will move to that.

Click the Download link on Direct2Drive, the next page should have your CD-Key before you actually download anything.

yeah the character customization is pretty nuts in Brink...not sure why they spent so much time on that aspect of the game

When I was at PAX a couple months ago we stopped by the Brink stations to watch people play.. then got bored and moved on because they all spent so much time customizing everything

it made sense that it'd be another thing you could unlock as you continued to play, but from what i've read you can pretty much unlock everything in a week of very moderate play so... Maybe they are planning to raise the level cap and continue to add unlockables in the future. That would make sense since you are capped at 20 right now.

I doubt it, you can have some 10 characters for the game so I think they want people to have multiple character builds rather than max out one character fully.

Just another lame design decision.

Steam is deploying a +1.6gig patch for BRINK right now.

Do the displayed weapon stats correspond to any actual.. anything?

The Bulpdaun SMG has higher accuracy and stability stats than the Kross SMG, but the Kross has a tigher spread. A bunch of the ARs and SMGs have higher damage stats than the Drognav sniper rifle, but that can't be right..

Did you rename your video assets folder? It's probably just redownloading that along with the actual small patch. That folder is right around 1.6

this is what I'm wondering, the simi-auto AR is super accurate but the stats don't even come close...

Brink for PC: runs great, plays well online, is a ton of fun

Ars review of the patched PC version. They liked it.

i was wondering same thing

by the end of the couple hrs i played last night (360 keke) it seems like those values can't be compared directly between different gun 'classes', if that makes sense. so if you see a SMG with a high dmg bar, it's in comparison to all the other SMGs

this is pure conjecture & just going by how it felt in-game
