Thats sort of the whole MO when it comes to firearms. Most of the firearm crimes are committed with handguns, but the attention is always on the rifles. And nobody cares that there are rifles in the exact same caliber, with the exact same power and the same capacity, because those rifles have wooden stocks people are easily swayed due to a slight touch of selective apathy
