ofn, the media only thinks white people can be racist. i'm curious though how random joes turn out for this. do they give two shits either way and does the politicking incentivize them further or drive them off. at a 190m production budget and ~200m in marketing, anything 500m+ should keep the studios happy. the marvel crowd alone should get it there.

word of mouth will be interesting to follow though

Looks like everyone except the Aussies are too afraid to say that the black film isn't anything short of a masterpiece.

I heard lots of parallels between Blade and Black Panther, if its 1/2 as entertaining as Blade I'll give it a look when it comes out "in stores".
 
At a certain point you're overselling it. At this point there is no doubt in my mind that it will be overwhelmingly mediocre, just like Wonder Woman.

You may go for the hard-core action and hard-muscled bodies, but, if you're white, you'll leave with an anti-"shithole" appreciation for Africa and African-American cultural origins. If you're black, you'll leave with a straighter walk, a gratitude for your African heritage and a superhero whom black children can relate to.

If movie studios spend upward to 50 million on marketing what's stopping them from boosting ticket sales numbers by buying tickets themselves.

The only "pay attention to me" metric that people use are box office numbers.
