Sarcasm vs. People w/ no sense of humor

All Tribal-history aside, i have a strong tendency to rub people the wrong way with my sense of humor. I've been told that I'm extremely sarcastic and people dont get it and it makes me wonder if people just don't understand my jokes or if the things i say are real dickhead things to say....

tonight was a perfect example...

At the leasing office for our complex there was some kind of event with a radio station and they were doing a raffle. They pulled out the name Brian Dupree and when they announced it, noone responded. The raffle person looked around and this indian guy sitting down moved around and the raffle person said 'are you Brian Dupree?' and the indian guy smiled and shook his head.

I thought it was funny, so I said 'Well you look like a Brian Dupree!' and noone laughed and the indian guy gave me like a solid death stare for like 10 full seconds. I figured it wasn't going to get any better so I left...

Is that not funny??? Does noone get the sarcasm??? Maybe I'm only funny to me???

i dont see that though, whats racist about it? b/c i indirectly implied he doesn't look like he would have been born into a situation where his birth name would have been Brian Dupree? What's racist about that
 
It's called tact. You appear to be deficient of it.

But yah that was pretty funny. I would have audibly approved if I were among the audience.

It's right there in your thread title: "Sarcasm vs."

Sarcasm as an attack.

Random people don't like to be attacked, and decent people don't enjoy seeing someone else attacked.

As noted, just be more careful picking your audience. A group of friends who already know how much of a snarky ass you are will be more likely to laugh. A bunch of (essentially) strangers will just feel awkward around the attention whore who "thinks he's funny".

Real talk.
 
if i was there i would've followed that up with "well you look like a fag" aimed at no one in particular and i guarantee i'd get a huge laugh and possibly some digits
 
next thing you know you are onto obscure self referencing humor that no one understands about jokes u told about jokes you told about shit no one cares about that one guy laughed at once
