Yes. There's ixtreme and ixtreme LT (Light Touch). LT is what we are using and 1.1 just came out in march. The only drives that even have Light Touch right now are Benq and Lite-On. Samsung and Hitachi are still in the dark.

I tought seeing as in software language 1.1 is older then 1.5 didn't see the LT.

I download all my games from iptorrents.com but with your internet that might cause you some trouble. Your best option might be renting the games (if you can) then ripping them yourself.
Yea, we have done this 5 times already and waited a month in between shipping to and from (since launch, so its over a course of a few years). We decided that we were tired of waiting for fixes that broke again in 3 months which is why we went ahead and just did the bracket fix ourselves. We found every time they sent it back they put the same damn bracket on.
If you don't want to void your warranty though you are right, should just send it in. Some people have had better luck with their refurbs then we have.

You can get burners that can etch a title in with a laser, but I'm not sure about an easy way to go about making the whole image like that.
okay so i've did it but I don't think it worked. How can I check wether I flashed the firmware ? It was writing the new firmware but my xbox shut down because it wasn't connected to a tv

You got lucky, had the xbox died earlier you might have lost the DVD-rom.
As long as it's plugged into the TV it won't ever turn off.
