The lost continent of Europe

When it finally happens, they are not going to know what hit them. We are possibly the stupidest generation in history, with our affluence making the wealth generating machinery of our societies look effortless but also apparently dulling our minds. The Europeans are about to find out how different reality is from appearance when everything is running well. How it works is entirely invisible. The article, written by a Swede, comes with the explicit title, Sweden Close to Collapse. These are the dot-points of the introduction but read the whole article which will scare you, or at least it should. If we have the wit to understand what is going on we can learn from their mistakes and not make the same ones ourselves. And while this is about Sweden in particular, it applies to the whole of Western Europe. There is no reason this could not be us because there are plenty here just as “imprudent” as the Swedes.
Quote:
Sweden is fast approaching a complete collapse. More and more municipalities are raising the alarm that if the migrants keep coming at this pace, the government can no longer guarantee normal service to its citizens. In addition, ominous statements from government officials have left Swedes in fear of what tomorrow may bring. If the migrant wave keeps coming, in 10-15 years, Swedes will be a minority in their own country.

At a press conference October 9, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven said that Sweden is in a state of crisis. However, when asked to clarify what he meant by this, Löfven was unable to produce a single coherent sentence.

Three ministers appeared by the Prime Minister's side at the hastily summoned press conference, which came on the heels of an extraordinary government meeting. The purpose of the press conference seems to have been to convey two messages
  • To explain to the world and the Swedish people that Sweden is facing "one of the largest humanitarian efforts in Swedish history."
  • That there is no more housing available, and migrants should be prepared to live in tents.
If the wave of migrants keeps coming, in 10-15 years, Swedes will be a minority in their own country. That there is, in fact, an exchange of populations going on, should be clear in any sober assessment.
  • “The final consequence of… Sweden’s immigration policy is that the economy will collapse — because who is going to pay for it all?* And economic breakdowns, once they happen, always happen very fast.” — Lars Hedegaard.
  • In the last two weeks, more than 1,000 “unaccompanied refugee children” have arrived from Germany via ferry; more than half of them have now vanished and are listed as missing.
  • For the last few weeks, the central train station in Sweden’s third largest city, Malmö, has been overrun with migrants; the volunteers that for the first few days showed up with food, water and clothes now seem to have lost interest.
  • It will not be long until the Swedes realize that the state will not look after them. The country that just 20 years ago was considered one of the safest and most affluent in the world, is now in danger of becoming a failed state.
* This notion of “who will pay for it all” is part of the failure of economic theory and our superficial way of understanding the underlying economic reality in terms of money. Of money, there is never a shortage. Of food, housing, services there is only enough if the saving of the past has allowed us to lay down the right amounts to meet the requirements of the present. It’s not paying for it that matters, but having the goods and services in existence that are there to be bought. The shortages that the rush of migrants have caused are already becoming manifest and now the fight will begin in earnest.

assuming there are numbers to look at

same way women brag about being better drivers because their car insurance rates are lower than men

but in reality they are less likely to get into an accident because they drive less often (hours logged and distance) than men

.......and this is what you are asking for with Sweden

but what if I told you that this isn't insurance but a PC government who intentionally try to distort the facts and findings because they are trying to keep their people in the dark.......not just dark ages

same with Hispanics being lumped into Caucasion stats on crime here in the states.

All governments do this......some are just far more dishonest about it

take Japan's homicide stats......where they get something like 98% of ALL murderers but also don't go after crimes they don't already have resolved because homicide detection is hard work in huge cities and if they don't know who did it immediately they just call it a displaced body........not murder

WOW

so you click on my link multiple posts after and try to troll me further with where are the numbers?

with bad faith posting like yours there is a reason there is a low level quality of posting of facts on the internet and people like you are to blame for it.

great question

right now we are watching a pretty epic battle play out and most people don't even know it is happening

China Vs. USA

scratch that BRICS vs. West

soon there will be two Internets......ours and theirs

both will be heavily regulated, censored, and controlled

you are seeing the EU fail........you are watching a FEDeral Gub in the USA that is out of control in foreign policy and agenda (still)

but the East is also screwed......has too many people to control and is spending all its time trying to herd cats and colonize South America and Africa.

it often feels like we, the West, are as likely to split into a million pieces as it is to be controlled by one giant central bank or governing group.

but maybe that is the long game?

break up the current model to create one giant unified new one?

because last I checked NATO is dying and in a death spiral as well.

all I know is that a giant East vs. West battle is ramping up and that is the long game right now. Who and where to put your money idk......I really don't but should pay more attention and detail to that than how fast the idiots in the Western world can implode on themselves.

and in regards to just the numbers

Is this good or bad? I guess you can tell me

a declining currency, a declining GDP, a declining standard of living but increasing cost of living?

winning right?

Admire the best, forget the rest

Outsiders look enviously at Sweden's economic success. So why are the Swedes thinking of voting out the ruling Social Democrats next weekend?

FOR much of Europe, the past decade has been depressing. Slow growth, high unemployment and the burdens of rising public debt and falling competitiveness have renewed doubts about the sustainability of the European ***8220;social model***8221;, which is also starting to creak under the weight of an ageing population. The youthful dynamism of America, and now of China and India, seems to be leaving the decrepit old continent in the shade. Yet there has always been one bright spot amid the gloom: Scandinavia.

The effects of immigration on economic growth – a literature study - Tillväxtanalys

Quote:
In summary

Summing up, the literature on the effects of immigrants on economic growth, productivity, innovation, and trade is generally positive. Concerning innovation and productivity, fairly little research exists with respect to the case of Sweden, and clearly much more could be done. Conversely, there is already well-grounded evidence on the positive impact of immigrants on Swedish firms’ trade performance. One conclusion from the literature review is that most of these positive effects come from highly educated immigrants. Compared to other countries (especially Anglo-Saxon countries like the US or the UK), Sweden has not been targeting the highly educated. It must also be stressed that the tax system may have a negative impact on the possibility to attract individuals at the upper end of the skill distribution scale. In this respect, the Swedish tax incentive scheme for “foreign experts” may be a move in the right direction. However, in order for Sweden to remain attractive to foreign experts it might be necessary to reassess the design of this tax incentive.

¹ The term skilled migrant is generally used in the literature to refer to migrants with a certain level of competence or occupation. However, data on “skills” is usually missing and therefore most studies use education data to proxy for skills.
I don't see their recent influx as being full of "highly educated immigrants."

The only thing I see in Sweden's future is
  • A) Numerous Halal meat and Pizza & Kebab shops
  • B) Islamic Republic of Sweden
  • C) Mass deportations or paying them to go back home

‘Socialist Paradise’ Sweden suffering from swelling debt levels, employee absenteeism

Sweden has long been celebrated as a place that the United States should mimic. A country that maintains a strong government, “free” healthcare and various safety nets to help every single Swede in the nation. Of course, much like what is often purported by Venezuelan apologists, Sweden is slowly collapsing at the seams.

The latest news coming out of Stockholm is that about 40 percent of mortgage borrowers are not paying off their debt, while those who are paying the principal are doing so at a rate that would take roughly a century to completely pay off.
Johan and Alejandra are the kind of Swedes the IMF has been warning about - piling up debt to keep up with an ever-rising property market and fund a lifestyle of travel, maids and nights out.

The couple plan to buy a flat in Stockholm for 5 to 6 million Swedish crowns ($724,000 to $869,000), initially with an interest-only bank loan, among other spending plans.

"I may travel, I may want to invest in a new business," said Alejandra, who runs a cafe in the city centre.

Less than a month away from a general election, there are no votes in campaigning to stop the credit flowing, but there are fears that such Swedes could be the Achilles heel of a country that boasts a coveted AAA score from credit rating agencies Fitch and S&P.

Four in 10 mortgage borrowers in Sweden are not paying off their debt, and those that are repaying the principal do so at a rate that would on average take nearly a century.

Swedish property prices have nearly tripled in just two decades. In July, home prices rose at a double-digit pace from a year ago - the first time in more than four years.

The IMF has warned financial instability in Sweden is an increasing concern and urged a comprehensive set of macroprudential measures to temper soaring mortgage debt.

With Sweden's household debt-to-income ratio above 170 percent - among the highest in Europe and rising - the issue is worrying Riksbank policymakers. Out of fear of spurring more borrowing, the central bank has kept interest rates higher than warranted by inflation, but they are nevertheless at historic lows.

The main concern is that private consumption - which makes up nearly half of Swedish GDP - would suffer if rates rose or property prices fell, which could spell problems for the lenders and the economy, which is only just finding its feet.
[.....]
[All that above and we haven't even begun to add in the rapefugees]

(IMF) Financial Sector Assessment Program Update: Technical Note on Household Indebtedness: Implications for Financial Stability (Apparently, the IMF site is undergoing some work and the article cannot be accessed at this time. Very interested in reading this because I have a feeling that the IMF is going along with the 'Unchecked mass migration from the 3rd-world is fricken awesome for everyone!) has recently chimed in and warned that financial instability is becoming a major concern in the land of Ingmar Bergman, Ikea and meatballs. The Riksbank notes that Sweden’s household debt-to-income ratio is more than 170 percent, one of the highest numbers in all of Europe.

One of the primary worries among policymakers is that private consumption could take a hit if interest rates started to climb and property prices declined – housing prices have nearly tripled in the past 20 years, which has led many to warn that Sweden is in the midst of a substantial housing bubble.

With Sweden nearing a general election, much needed remedies are being avoided entirely. Neither political side wishes to talk about raising property taxes or reducing interest rates. High private debt levels, bubbles and indecision are what define Sweden at the moment.

Over the past several years, median incomes among Swedes have been dwindling – ranked 14th in the latest OECD statistics. A declining number of Swedes are working; it maintains an unemployment rate of 8.2 percent. Sweden has also been described as the “sickest workforce,” a jest portrayal considering that the government has created incentives under the Swedish model of socialism not to work at your position of employment.

[But this... this is just sad]
It isn’t necessarily surprising that 10 percent of working age Swedes are in early retirement, 16 percent of national government’s expenditures are allocated to subsidizing workers’ sick days and employee absenteeism is at one of the highest levels in the region, or the developed world. Of course, as Swedish journalist Ulf Nilson writes, Sweden has the “sickest workforce in the world” as absence from work has doubled during the past five years.
