Stellaris: the best 4x game ever conceived?

I've always wondered why people in this game don't seem to live that much longer than we do now. I expected more out of humans.

i have a turtle empire, and my genetic trait was enduring
so my dudes, before any research in game, live to be 300 or 400 or something insane

That's because they're turtles, not humans?
 
nah its cuz of the trait profile of your species
enduring is like 4 points or something (a lot for the game) but you can put it on any race
