How we got 1000 votes and my trip to a wedding fair...
There was another 500 vote thing I was out of town for and my fiancee is 6 hours away at school still so neither of us could go. No idea where the other 200 come from.
And she can keep her last name if she wants but the kids(if/when we have them) get stuck with mine. Its a good Polish name :shrug:
Any one who has poked around on the contest site has seen that there are currently 46 couples with 1000 votes even though voting hasn't opened yet.
Well there was a pre-vote bonus round of sorts where you had to go to this bridal/wedding show and talk to EVERY booth there and get a little punch on this card and turn in the completed card for the points.
Well we all know Gabby is still at school and I am down here in MN so guess who got to go to this thing alone.
Me, thats right, I went to a bridal/wedding show alone. The vendors included caterers, DJs, florists, tux and gown shops, host locations, photo booth rentals, cosmetic surgery places(uh strange), makeup artists, tanning salons, spray on tan places (really?) laser hair removal places, hair extension dealers (I guess thats what i would call them *shrug*), mortgage brokers, Realtors, travel agents, limo services, wedding planners, photographers, mosquito dusting specialists ( yeah really, this is MN) and bachelor/bachelorette party planners (no not pimps silly).
I think there were 300 or so booths total. There were maybe 300 other guys at this thing compared to the several thousand women. I'm 99% sure I was the only one who didn't get drug their by their fiancee.
Every vendor pretended to want to hear all about the wedding plans and wondered "where the lucky lady was" and to start with I told them the real story but that just led to more and more questions and really I don't want to talk to a laser hair removal expert for longer than I have to so eventually I started using this little gem "oh I'm on card duty she is off spending money some where", this got a laugh out of most of them, a dirty look from a few, but every one understood and just stamped the thing and let me go on my way.
After about 3 hours I had successfully survived the hormone crazed brides (there really were some crazy ones I felt a little bad for the guy they were dragging around), the eager vendors and interrogation like questioning. All in all it wasn't that bad and was pretty eye opening to just how expensive a wedding can get. There are things Gabby and I put higher on the to do list than paying for a wedding but with your help we won't have to put off celebrating our love with our friends and family. As you can see from this story I'll do just about anything
