a nice old dude that hit you with his car? at least he stopped to help you out, but this fixing your bike thing yourself seems like a bad idea unless you know what you are doing. don't you live in boulder or am i thinking of someone else?

did a fast ride out of stapleton this morning, going out east of denver. pretty country out there. isn't that sort of your area reno?

I can sympathize with being attached to a frame but it sounds like it is time to hang this one in your garage. Just remember frames don't "kind of" fail, they fail quickly and catastrophically.

Speaking of potential catastrophic failure... The loop I do has a long straight decline with a somewhat sharp turn at the bottom that you have to prepare for if you don't want to brake. With minimal effort you hit this turn at 25-30 and I am sure faster dudes can hit it much faster. Anyways on friday I am leaning into this turn and I hear the PWONGGNG of a blown spoke and a second later TWINGNGNGG and my rear wheel immediately went hella wonky.

When all was said and done I had blown 3 spokes (2 adjacent spokes) and the wheel was a floppy pancake. When I got home I unscrewed a 3rd adjacent spoke and the wheel went so far out of true that it could barely rotate anymore. Pretty sure I dodged a bullet and learned a valuable lesson about cheap machined wheels (This wheel only had around 3000 miles on it.)

Watching le tour right now, for some reason it appears that cavendish isn't way off the front clowning the peloton. Also they're interviewing vino and he isn't wearing a picture of himself?! What is going on in this crazy tour.

So I ordered a Civilian disc-brake cx race bike from realcyclist this week, which brings up my number of bikes in the fleet to six. I've thought about building up a nice geared commuter but for obvious reasons I'm probably better off not getting yet another bike.

I've got a SS beater (freewheel) that doesn't get a whole lot of use, especially since I shredded the rear tire and just haven't replaced it. I've thought of taking the 9sp rear shifter and derailleur and cassette from my pugsley and putting it on that bike. Then I'd take the 10sp shifter and RD from my mountain bike and put that on the pugsley. Then the new Zee RD and shifter would go on the mountain bike, and I'd run it 1x10 (which I've really wanted to do anyway).

Alternately I could dispose of the beater (since I have another SS for around town use anyway...fixed though) and get some 29er wheels built up for the pugsley for not-snow use.

Thoughts on maximizing function while minimizing # of bikes?

Nope it's straight forward.

I do have the 4th off but I'm doing the Firecracker 50 (I won't use the word "racing").

I don't have cable so I watch it live or not at all.

Ok so i replaced the hanger last night and that went fine.

However once i placed the rear derailleur back on i noticed the top of the derailleur is worn down so much that the washer (circled in the pic bellow) slides over the derailleur not keeping it in place. Can i do anything to fix this beside replacing the derailleur?
