Well, I made it through my first bike race. It was a lot harder than i thought doing it on dirt... and i dont think more than 1/10mi of the ****ing course was flat. Definitely different than the bike portions of a tri.

Total Distance 22.92
Total Time 1:48:54.5
Avg Pace 4:45/mi
Avg Speed 12.6mph
Max Speed 29.2mph
Total Calories 2164 cal
Avg Heart Rate 148 bpm
Max Heart Rate 170 bpm
Avg Cadence 83 rpm
Total Ascent 2795 ft

edit: fixed the missing hour

that's a great avg cadence for that terrain. shows you were being efficient on the hills. (unless your monitor stopped working? the total time is a bit off) i was afraid you'd crash or something but now i'm all happy because you just jumped into the deep end take the next day off entirely-- that was probably one of the best workouts on the bike you've had and your body wants to adapt from it

Talked last night to one of the people in my volunteer avalanche group who apparently is pretty serious about racing bikes, and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting after that next year.

I want a Yeti ASR-C so bad.

made the break Saturday at Tampa Twilight Criterium and managed 7th.

missed the breakaway Sunday in the circuit race. I swore a break wouldn't stick, we were reeling them in all race long, but a good group of guys got away when I was sitting in and recovering. one of the teams (green team) with a guy in the break was cluttering up the front (as they should have) so I was doing a bunch of work with little help to try and bring it in. I'd have liked to see the workload % graphic like on cycling tv coverage. Ended up coasting in with the peloton for I believe 23rd.

I'd do terrible racing in FL. too many sprints

I need hills. edit: For example, epic ride coming up...

he won on Sunday too. he won the sprint from the breakaway SEATED, with pretty strong riders sprinting out of the saddle. unbelievable really. i saw him go to bridge soon after the break formed, i definitely could have gone along with him, but hindsight is 20/20. word from his breakaway "companions" is that he didn't do hardly any work, even after bridging up and recovering. pretty dick to contest the win after refusing to help share the workload.
