Losing weight is not complicated. The media has just made it that way so you'll be their products.

Common sense when eating and exercise.

That's all you have to do.

I disagree about eating less... Hunger is bad. It leads to cravings anyway. If Hungry Then Eat. I eat about 6-7 small meals a day. Your body tells you these things for a reason. Hunger pangs don't mean "Eat a Big Nasty with fries," but rather to eat something that's a bit more in line with our evolution.

I'm by no means a hippie PETA activist or anything. **** the cows, they don't do anything useful for me. But if you do manage to make your diet more sensible, you seriously lose cravings for all the fast food and junk food out there. Because when you do give in and eat that stuff, you feel like **** and realize it's not worth it. It becomes repulsive in a way. (Which is why some people get smug about it.)

Yeah, not like I'm obese. I snowboard, I play drums. I don't have an ounce of fat on my legs or arms - it's all on my belly and back. Hard to get rid of it there.

Oh, and I don't drink soda hardly at all.

I mean real exercise. Kayak. Ski. Climb. Run from the park rangers. Don't live like a damned flatlander.

2.) Eat less. You'll feel hungry at first, but it only lasts for a few hours until you realize you're being a little ***** and your ancestors would be ashamed of your 21st Century pampering-induced weakness. It's like one of the official TW meatheads said in a thread like this a few years ago: food is fuel, not fun.
I mean, it's really that simple. It's totally an ingrained societal thing that has to be mentally overcome.

Want that cookie? Or that extra piece of cake? Maybe you'd like a larger portion of that pasta?

CUT IT OUT FAT *****. YOU DON'T NEED ALL THAT FOOD - AND IF YOU WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT STOP THINKING LIKE A FATASS.

As for exercise. Well, I don't totally agree with the sentiment - with certain lifestyles a gym is the only option. If thats you, then I say to you: get your lazy ass to the gym. Don't want to? Suck it up you fat piece of ****. If you have the time, yeah - get into sports, hike, do some arduous cardio vascular physical activity that requires mental energy as well. Also - don't be ironic. Don't drive and take the elevator to the gym - walk. Walk as much as humanly possible. Stop letting our modern lives cut down on your daily physical exertion. Let some of that exercise come natural, know what I'm saying?

I mean, make excuses if you want - but you'll just keep packing on the pounds and you'll only regret it like the little unmotivated weak pansy you are.

On the plus side, if you really commit - I mean if you change your lifestyle - you will find life so much better. You'll look better, you'll feel better about (not just because you're "doing it", but actually like, hormones will be steadily released to make your brain happier), and you'll literally feel better (eating good will give you the nutrients to sustain energy and health - cutting out large portions and junk food will x-out any sense of being 'weighed down' after eating).

Pro Tips:

- Cut out ****ty carbs: Pizza, Bagels, Pasta, white bread, etc. Every once and a while is fine, but I mean really rarely. It's better to start by x-ing the **** out completely for a few weeks to find out how little you need it.
- Cut out foods that are essentially pure fat/red meat: Bacon (replace w/ Turkey Bacon), Hamburgers (replace with: Turkey Burger), sausage (replace with: you guessed it - turkey sausage), etc. Just cut it down. Eat more chicken, turkey, and fish.
- Eat fresh, whole, and if possible organic foods. It ups the taste, nutrition, and probably how much it fills you up.
- Eat salads. Watch the fattening dressing or you're defeating the purpose. Find out what it means to eat some fresh natural greens from the earth. Make your palate adapt and don't make excuses ("I can't eat a salad every day!" wah wah, etc). Note to do this properly, you're going to have to make a number of trips to your local whole foods during the week, to get that good fresh stuff all the time.
- Smaller portions. All traditional diets generally feature small portions of a large variety of foods. When you eat the right foods in comfortable amounts, your body and mind will adapt and you'll find you don't need nearly as much as you need.
- Cut out soda. It's ****ing disgusting. It's pure ****ing sugar and the only reason your body doesn't reject it is b/c of all the other chemicals in there. Not even diet soda. Just cut it out fatty.
- Drink water. Lots and lots all day long. Way too many benefits to this one, but for one it'll help you feel full.
- Get a good amount of sleep. Whatever that means to you but it should probably be in the 6-8 hour range.
- Cut out the junk food. Chips, candy, processed **** of all kinds - anything that's processed is probably going to just slow you down. replacing it with little healthy snacks like nuts or rice cakes or something can help curb little hunger attacks.
- Do not eat anything that has trans fats or high fructose corn syrup. The first will **** up your arteries and make you a huge fatty, and the later will make you a fatty and **** up your metabolism. Note that many juices are bad for you b/c of the fructose.
- Exercise daily. 20-30 minutes of cardio. Walk as much as possible. This is essential. Also do some weight training - you don't have to bulk up, but muscles will help burn calories - even when you're sleeping!
- Watch your calories. Talk to a specialist about loosing weight to see how much you should be taking in daily. Just note that they're probably going to tell you the same thing as me: that exercise goes hand in hand.

closing thoughts:
- everything above has multiple benefits. It should all be done in a kind of harmony, and you'll find that your progress will be exponential.
- **** a diet. if it's not a lifestyle you'll fluctuate your entire life and that's a waste of time. don't just do it for the weightless. do it for the physical and emotional health of it all.
- do your research. this is stuff off the top of my head as i've altered my lifestyle since the beginning of this school year. i have a 14 page document that put me on the right track, but i probably had another 14 in conversations with people. you take what you can, decipher what you can, but the most important thing is that you acquire the knowledge. while i obviously want you to get fit (hence why i'm taking the time to write all this), i'm not going to type out every little food you should eat and not eat or devise a schedule for you. but that's your responsibility. to read those labels and look at those foods and know what you need and do not need to accomplish your goals.
- DO IT. stop making excuses. don't let your self slip. boot camp this ****. resist temptation. don't be a weak sonofa***** and push yourself - challenge yourself. its possible, but you're going to have to try very hard, is all. the payoff is indescribable but quite amazing. it's not atkins/fad diet #18974 happy, it's "wow, this is what it means to be a healthy human being!" happy.

good luck.

PS: re: "food is fuel, not fun". **** that. seriously, now... if you want to have a cinnabon and large subway all-meat sandwich or whatever, just cause, then that's your right. food is fun! for everyone. the thing is, when you have a goal - to loose weight, be healthy, feel better, etc, you just have to alter your criteria for the food you consume and how frequently you take it in.

me personally, i enjoy a very health lifestyle however i indulge, for the fun of it, very often. if you aren't willing to have fun with food, then i feel for you.

1) eat less
2) move more

my diet involves 1 meal and 1 snack a day, while spending all day standing on my feet holding back my burning hatred for all mankind. it's a pretty good diet.
