Lets see, I'm sure someone will have a more exact estimate, usually to fully insure a ship it will cost 20-25% of the price of the ship itself. That will pay for a new one with a little cash left over if you shop around. The kicker is that insurance is only for the ship, not the upgrades. You can easily, easily have a million dollar ship with 5 million worth of upgrades, weapons and what not. Hell, you can have a 300k ship with a cargo hold full of goods that cost you 10 milllion. If you get destroyed all you get is the insurance on the 300k ship.
