I'm a lifelong Michigan fan, but I hate this kind of news. I was disappointed to see Tressel's run end the way it did, and I'll be disappointed to see Urban Meyer leave over something like this, too.

If he really knew about the issues and chose to not act on firing Earl Bruce's grandson, I think he should be sent packing.
 
urban should be punished for keeping dude on the staff but losing your job and being potentially blacklisted/fucked for life from your career is a bit much
 
I feel staff issues like this fall back more on the AD than the coach even if the coach has hire/fire authority. The coach has one job: win games. The AD has a much broader mission: find coaches that will win, promote the school as a whole, and keep rich alumni donating. The AD should have made this go away quietly.

i'm ok w/ it in cases like urban meyer's b/c he has crossed the "wealth enuff 2 make me reeeeeeee" threshold so he's not fucked like 1 of us mortals would be

idk tho b/c the tressel thing bugs me, but maybe urban meyer gets enough results that he can still get hired by a big school

Yeah Tressels was bullshit 100%

Urban should get some sort of punishment like a suspension but he DID report the first abuse allegations, just not the most recent case.

Urban Meyer is screwed. The fact it appears Meyer and Zach Smith are working together on this PR campaign damns him even more in my eyes.

Urban Meyer's biggest problem is that if this falls under Title IX, you don't report Title IX stuff to the AD, you report it to the Title IX Office, which it says in black and white in his contract.
 
He's going to get fired as he should be. He violated Title IX and university policy of knowingly not reporting incidents to the proper channels. OSU is currently scrambling on how to save this and keep him on board but ultimately after the Zach Smith interview - they have to realize there is no way they can keep him now.

OSU also going through a sexual abuse scandal with their wrestling team as we speak so that entire university is getting railroaded right now.

brian kelly's 2012 wins vacated for academic scandal, a kid died at practice on kelly's watch, he's assaulted assistants on the sidelines of games and rumored to be heavy handed privately.

if/when urban gets fired notre dame should bring him in as a program analyst or some ridiculous position under the radar. let him groom ND's next 2nd tier coach. when rebuilding a program, there probably isn't a better coach in the country. it seemed like at utah and florida, he stops giving a shit about sustaining his process, unlike saban.

its rumored that gene smith has dirt on urban and tOSU, and has threatened the program entirely saying if he was fired, "he will bring the whole program down"

either way, he's a winner and i'm pretty sure osu is going to do everything in their power to "railroad" someone else so he can remain.
