[Symphonic] New compositions
Today I received my Sonuus G2M Guitar-MIDI converter. It acts a bit like a guitar tuner where it recognizes the notes you play and converts them into digital MIDI format. It also sends the dynamics and pitch bend information as well, like a MIDI keyboard with weighted keys. No pickups required--you just plug your guitar into it and then send the MIDI to your PC.
It's a bit limited. You can only input single notes at a time, and you have to be extremely careful when playing so that you don't hit wrong notes accidentally. The G2M won't recognize notes if you play too fast, as well. But for $100 it's pretty useful, compared to the $650 Roland GK-20 (it allows chords). I wrote a composition with it today. I feel like the melodic lines sound much more natural when played from a guitar. (I was using a keyboard+mouse in my previous compositions, which isn't bad for chords but is too 'clunky' for melodies.)
