exactly, there should have never been a tank in the first place
Granite Gargoyle said:Second. YES THE TURRETS ARE TOO STRONG. No one really has to D anymore. Just farm a million turrets or so and voila, instant D that's nearly impossible to even kill one of the damn things on one run.
Third. The disk does suck. I feel as Nat does on this one. It doesn't feel the same anymore. I use to love breaking one off in someone's ass but now it's lackluster. It has such a huge splash that it doesn't seem as skillful anymore.
Jetpacking from a tank? Whoever said "you have a jetpack" has evidentally not tried getting away from them or either stays in them contantly. Even a little nudge from it kills you.
Granite Gargoyle said:Heheh I'm not saying the tank shouldn't kill you on impact, I'm saying it shouldn't be so hard to get away from. Tanks are suppose to be hulking weapons of mass destruction, not a bumper car.
The turrets are too strong. If placed properly (not in a pub with newBs) they will cause more than half the damage done to you. and if placed AT the flag you're screwed. They are just too fast firing I think. It's cheap D. I think the Dfense should need to work harder. Hell I play D all the time so don't think that this is from a "Cowboy". I'm a D player and almost feel left out when turrets go up.
Natural said:-Heroism is gone
-the gameplay lacks grace
-you can't feel the enjoyment of a powerful disk shot that knocks a guy off track or finishes him off in a nice, crisp, explosion.
-same thing, except with mortars
-more time is spent traveling than playing
-skilled disk fighting D < robotic rocket launcher D
-it feels like you're bulky in a huge mountain-filled world
-poorly designed maps with flags indoors that are far too easily defended by overpowered turrets
-the overpowered tank running over people
-since you can't capture the flag so often in the capture the flag game mode, you get points for touching it instead
-the network code was rewritten to become horrible... how many sub 30 pings do you see in T2 vs. Tribes/Quake/etc?
-the game was the vision of one man instead of many
-the beta process was oversized, then undersized, then rushed in order to meet deadlines (T1 was created much more carefully)
-the wonderful promised ability to permanently ban accounts from servers was removed and now they claim that they would "never support such a design element"
-renegades players are far too satisfied
-the lead designer called Scarabre the best T1 CTF map (no joke)
I'm tired of typing. Feel free to flame, or add more to the list.
The tribes community is what made this sequel possible, yet most of us were utterly ignored. Ten years from now when people look back at T2, the greatness of Tribes 2 will be measured by its sales. And the artists of the original Tribes (whom we all owe a immeasurable amount of respect), most of which have left Dynamix, will soon be forgotten.
While this post is critical flame, it is also a pledge of thanks. An acknowledgement that although the sequel was tainted, I respect original the Dev TEAM members who created the first game, this community, and made our online lives memorable.

I agree that its sad that all these people are quitting. However all this shit about "There are no heros" and "The defense is less skilled" is crap. It still takes a lot of skill, if not more, to do a lot of things in T2. The MA sniper uber LD is still around. There are still a lot of heroes. I think the only reason some of these people are quitting is because they want to be the best right away. They cant handle not being the best any more (and having everyone worship them). Natural is a prime example of that. Everyone worshipped him in T1, and i really dont think he can handle not having that any more in T2.Riddil said:Sad day indeed for the original heroes who first founded the base of what the T1 community was built on.
