I've always liked hot sauces but really got into them a few years back with Dave's Insanity and whatnot. I've branched out since then, especially with Hot Ones providing me a constant stream of new sauce to try. In no particular order:
- Dave's Hurtin' Habanero: B. Pretty good, not too hot, just enough to spice up stuff like chili or eggs.
- Tobasco: A+. Perfect on eggs. Never too hot.
- Dave's Insanity: C-. This used to be my gold standard for "hot", but it's made from extract, and doesn't have much flavor. It's fine if you want to light up your chili.
- Dave's Temporary Insanity: C. It's hot. Works as advertised, goes away quickly. No real flavor.
- Dave's Cool Cayenne: B. Somewhat tasty. Decent cayenne flavor, not a lot of heat to speak of.
- Dave's Roasted Garlic: A-. Excellent garlic flavor, no heat. My kid loves to put this in his chili, it makes him feel like a badass.
- Bravado Blueberry + Ghost Pepper: A-. Excellent flavor, and an almost perfect level of heat. Great on wings.
- Blair's Death Sauce: A+. Absolutely delicious and great on a ton of different things. It's hotter than tobasco but nowhere near the middle of the road sauces.
- BW3 Spicy Garlic: B+. Great garlic flavor, very tangy, not very hot. Also great on wings.
- BW3 Hot: A-. Awesome tangy buffalo flavor and enough heat to get the tears streaming.
- Pepper Palace King Reaper: A+. Absolutely delicious, carrot based sauce with a wonderful reaper taste. Quite hot, but a teaspoon in a bowl of soup is spectacular. Goes great on chili too.
- Hot Ones Fiery Chipotle: A+. Amazing flavor, packs a decent amount of heat. Great on anything even remotely Mexican. Spices up a burger wonderfully.
- Mad Dog 357: C+. It's ridiculously hot. If that's what you want, this does it. Not a whole lot of flavor but there's something there.
- Da Bomb: D. 135,000 SHU of nothing but extract. It tastes terrible and because it's extract it comes across a LOT hotter than 135,000. It's literally hotter than 357.
- Dave's Ghost Pepper: Unrated. At 640,000 SHU I'm still too chicken to try it.
