I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was in my early 20's because they were dying. In dying, they affected the upper molars next to them and I had to get some crowns on both of the upper molars on the left and right.
Fast forward 12 years and my front upper teeth started to dwindle away. Couldn't for the life of me figure out wtf was going on. Asked my wife if I grind my teeth at night to which she replied that I did not. To be on the safe side, my dentist got me a night guard and wore that before going to bed.
And still, my front upper teeth continued to widdle away until they were about the size of a fingernail that is ready to be clipped. I went to see a specialist 2 or 3 years ago to figure out what the best course of action was and he was looking around in there and said, "Your teeth are really soft. The crowns that were used on your upper molars are much stronger than your teeth and after years of chewing your food, the crowns have worn down your lower molars into basically nothing. The only contact between your teeth is the front upper and lowers and because your lower teeth slide behind your upper teeth, they have widdled away your front uppers."
It was so bad that about 6 or 7 years ago, I stopped smiling in all pictures. Sucked.
Last year I got 4 lower molars removed and anchors driller into my jaw. I then had 9 front upper teeth removed and 6 anchors drilled into my face. I then got 4 lower implants installed to the anchors and in November of 2017, I got 9 implants installed on the front uppers.
$45,000.00.
Lower anchors drilled into my jaw. Look at small my front upper were.
Upper anchors drilled into my face.
Now, I can smile once again.
