No. I actually rarely smile. I picked up the nickname Smiling Canadian in the Legion. I had been in for about 16 months and we get quick deployed to an African ****hole. We are on the ground for no more than 15 minutes and we come under intense fire. We lost 3 men right away and we really thought we were right ****ed. I picked up our downed marksmans rifle and started returning aimed fire. The guys around me said later that the whole time I was returning fire and downing bad guys I was smiling from ear to ear. I don't think I was but that was when Smiling Canadian was born.

I joined in 1974. I spent 68 - 71 in Viet Nam and when I got back I had some issues fitting in with civilian life. I did lots of different things but I was never comfortable. My Grandfather told me about his time in the Legion when he escaped from Russia after WW2 so it seemed like a good place to go see if I could get my head screwed on properly again.

Meat...wild game in particular. Deer, Moose, Elk, Bear, Wild Boar.

My most satisfying I can't go into detail about but my 2nd most satisfying was 1985 in Afghanistan. I shot a Russian officer that was interrogating some Afghan women and girls in the most heinous manner I have ever seen. I put 1 round into the bridge of his nose from 1620 meters.
