The DBs got better as the game went on and Lagow for IU was doing a great job getting rid of the ball before any pressure could get to him early in the game. Also not to mention IUs receivers were making some outstanding catches in the first ~40 minutes of that game and its not like they were wide open, just bigger and had better ball skills. Might look back later at this as one of the better receiving corps OSU faces all year.
WRs are still a problem. Nobody has stepped up to be a consistent downfield threat at WR since we lost Spencer, Marshall, Thomas from that NC team. We've got plenty of burners who are great with the ball in hand but drop a lot of passes and struggle to get open when they have to run a precise route. Paris Campbell's 2 big plays in that game were both short crossing routes where he caught the ball with nobody within 5 yards of him and had room to run. Before that he dropped a ~15 yrd pass on 3rd down and a would-be TD pass on a deep ball he burned the secondary on.
Feels a lot like last year's team to be honest. I do like the play calling better and I love the way Barrett played. Its hard to fault him when his bad misses were clearly throwing to a route his receiver wasn't running(could be him or the WR) and there were quite a few drops. Given that he still threw for 300 yards and ran for 60 for 4 total TDs and 0 turnovers.
Holy shit Dobbins is good. True freshman runs for 29/181 in the opener. Not sure how you keep him off the field even when Weber is 100%.
