[NBA] 2018-2019 Regular Season

Wow! I’m going undefeated for the rest of the season. I’M FUCKIN’ LOCKED IN ON SIX CATS!

You should have streamed threes, not added Harrell!

You’re fucked 5-4 against the Magic Men!

It was written in stone.
The League gave orders to the refs

DO NOT CALL FOULS ON THE LAKERS IN A TIGHT GAME AT THE END. :minibarf:

Chandler at the end AND Rose fouled on last 3 point shot.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Minnesota has traded Jimmy Butler and Justin Patton to Philadelphia in exchange for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round draft pick.

Wow. Nearly two months after he first issued a trade demand, the Wolves have finally granted Butler his wish. This is a major roster shakeup for both squads. It will likely take a while for Butler to find his groove playing alongside Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, but Butler was able to post top-10 overall value playing next to Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins in Minnesota. Jimmy Buckets will still get buckets, as well as assists, rebounds and steals. Additionally, we won't have to worry about Butler taking random games off due to "general soreness." Per Shams, The Sixers and Wolves have trade call with the NBA on Monday to complete the deal

agree

but i'm also here for butler losing his shit when he watches simmons pass up 3s and showing zero interest in getting better at it

i guess philly is in win-now mode because of simmons' rookie extension ending in 2 years

they lose an elite 3 and D wing on a great contract (12m/yr) on an all-in gamble...for a title? it's not like simmons + embiid are threatening to leave a franchise that isn't getting closer to a title (lillard + portland, for example).

if butler ends up proving himself as a team cancer and this deal blows up in their face, they have roughly 15 mil to sign another player in the offseason? i don't see 15m getting you a better player than covington.

if anything the knock on philly this year has been their lack of outside shooting (the loss of ilyasova & bellineli being used to explain their regression). they're struggling to win games with embiid scoring 40, and simply losing when he's not. butler's decent from the mid range and out deep, and he should give their defense a significant uptick. that said simmons + embiid already crowd the paint plenty, and having butler standing around behind the 3 point line doesn't seem a very effective use of his skill set. i have faith that brett brown will figure an effective way to utilize jimmy, but acquiring jimmy doesn't address any of their glaring problems. in simpler terms butler is a super elite defender and a great 1v1 player, but the sixers already had a super elite 1v1 player (embiid) and an elite defender (RoCo).

minnesota is a joke and thibs knows hes getting fired so i don't know why he made this move. if thibs stays on then glen taylor is just pouring gasoline on the fire and minnesota will fall beneath the kings on the worst-run franchise rankings. that said almost all of the wolves fundamental on-court problems start and stop with KAT, so if sending butler away means he stops playing like a dumpster fire, it's probably worth it. trading a butler that you were going to lose anyway for nothing, and instead getting back an elite top five, 3 and D player in RoCo on a rather friendly contract is probably a coup for them.

Minny B+/A-
Philly B/B-
