I know right, turns out nvidia makes the chipset that handles the RAID controller and not the hard drives themselves. LMAO
what kind of idiot would mix up a RAID controller and a hard drive, wow, obviously someone who knows nothing about computers
seriously I think this thread is excellent at differentiating the chill sociable nerds from the hapless virgin ones

Find some nerd, offer to use balling skills to pull him a *****.
Make nerd install Win Vista, only to be told to Install Win 7.

heh
I'm out of ideas, really. And everyone seems to have headed out / gone to bed.
We'll see what the morning brings, and if not, I might have to just haul the whole machine ~hour away to my buddy's and see what he can make of it.

thats because your raid controller is hiding the drives from the system. as far as your system is concerned you don't have 2 seagate drives, you have one drive of whatever the controller i showing it as.
i'd help but you're generally a douchebag, and not really capable of being on that end of the troubleshooting. it'd be a huge waste of my time.
i suggest you try to find a friend who knows what the **** they're doing, buy him a case of beer, and have him fix it.
edit: this was before i went and read he formatted them in ubuntu. who the **** knows now.

right.
by the way
what are the odds whatever warez site he downloaded vista from (why wouldn't he go for 7?) loaded it up with viruses?
incoming 'So my bank account was hacked' thread.

As soon as it went down I went and changed every password I could think of, so probably not an issue. At least, this was two months ago and I haven't noticed anything.
Vista was just a big ole' torrent from a netbook that has none of my info on it.
Also why is detox being such an angsty nerdvirgin today.

Well when you look at how a lot of my most ardent attackers took the time to chill out and lend a hand, it really makes you look pathetic, nerdy and petty in comparison.
No?

Yeah, and they wound up giving up after wasting a bunch of time.
Which is pretty much why I said I wouldn't bother...

At this point... unless you get extremely lucky randomly pushing buttons or somehow the Google Gods decide to be merciful, your best bet is to take it to someone who knows WTF they're doing.
The fix is probably something simple, but you'd have to be sitting in front of it and know what you're looking at in the BIOS and POST to catch it.

Fair enough.
I'm taking it into a family friend tomorrow night, little chinese guy with a little hole in the wall shop. He knows his **** up, down left and right.
Should be fine, I'm hoping.
