Actually it looks more like a hot dog that was cooked in the microwave too long and blew up.
 
oh I meant the exposed meat... it's healed over now, kind of amazing how that works. He didn't lose the toe from a spider bite though, it was a nerve problem which lead to gangrene
 
In fact, many wounds that are necrotic and diagnosed as brown recluse bites can actually be Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Actual brown recluse bites are rare.
