Archaeologists prepare to open huge granite sarcophagus in Egypt

Near to the east
In a part of ancient Greece
In an ancient land called Macedonia
Was born a son
To Philip of Macedon
The legend his name was Alexander

At the age of nineteen
He became the Macedon King
And he swore to free all of Asia Minor
By the Aegian Sea
In 334 B.C.
He utterly beat the armies of Persia

Alexander the Great
His name struck fear into hearts of men
Alexander the Great
Became a legend 'mongst mortal men

King Darius the third
Defeated fled Persia
The Scythians fell by the river Jaxartes
Then Egypt fell to the Macedon King as well
And he founded the city called Alexandria

By the Tigris river
He met King Darius again
And crushed him again in the battle of Arbela
Entering Babylon
And Susa, treasures he found
Took Persepolis the capital of Persia

Alexander the Great
His name struck fear into hearts of men
Alexander the Great
Became a God amongst mortal men

A Phrygian King had bound a chariot yoke
And Alexander cut the 'Gordian knot'
And legend said that who untied the knot
He would become the master of Asia

Hellenism he spread far and wide
The Macedonian learned mind
Their culture was a western way of life
He paved the way for Christianity

Marching on, marching on
The battle weary marching side by side
Alexander's army line by line
They wouldn't follow him to India
Tired of the combat, pain and the glory

Alexander the Great
His name struck fear into hearts of men
Alexander the Great
He died of fever in Babylon

Yeah what is going on, isn't it just two guys standing around with a crowbar for three days? The preparations are obviously taking a long time. Indiana Jones would have stolden the gold idol, defeated the Nazis and bagged the female lead by now.

How many times will we have to dig up and resurrect this thread?

An ancient mummy was carefully carried out of the the eerie 9.8ft sarcophagus that dates back to the Ptolemaic period between 305 BC and 30 BC.

Shockingly, the frightening find is still intact after being dusted off, with little decay to the bones and skull.

The unknown corpse was also found in the same position it was buried in.

The artefact was discovered along the Nile River and is 2,600 years old and includes an inscription written in Egyptian hieroglyphics. A guard is currently in place while the mummy is removed for examination.

Alexander the Great, was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. He was born in 356 BC and died in 323 BC.

The resting place of his body has long been a mystery after his corpse was stolen before its burial.

Early scrawls have revealed his body was reburied in Alexandria.

Alexander was buried for awhile, and then when they started moving him to Macedon he was intercepted and taken to Egypt instead and kept there. His original gold coffin was melted down and he was put into another sarcophagus or coffin. Every couple of centuries a royal would open his tomb up and take things from it that he was originally buried with. They sort of knew where he was up until the 18th century, with speculation his crypt is now under a mosque.
