The pre-packaged retort to this phenomena often repeated in the media is that the US causes the high homicide rates in Mexico by exporting guns to Mexico. We're told that criminals go into the US, buy guns legally in Texas (for example) and then sell the guns illegally to cartels in Mexico.
Dave Kopel has shown that this claim isn't true. But, even if it were true, it wouldn't explain much by itself since we're left asking ourselves why criminals don' just do the same thing to the same homicidal effect in the United States. If it's so fruitful for violent criminals to buy guns in the US and sell them to organized crime rings, why aren't those criminals doing the same thing in the US?
Well, the answer is the criminals probably are are well armed in the US, and have a lot of guns just like criminals in Mexico do. The difference in actual crimes carried out, however, likely lies in the fact that law abiding Mexicans have been disarmed, while law abiding Americans have not.

I'm a fiscal conservative. I don't believe in any term, besides of course the fact that the market should not be driven by the government and taxes should be incredibly low, as the government will play favorites for those it's in bed with.

This nonsensical argument reminds me of liberals and social conservatives arguing about why black-dominated areas are shitholes. Liberals blame white people erroneously and social conservatives solely blame the lack of a nuclear family erroneously. Both are just looking at symptoms. The real problem is black IQ, culture, and lack of civility as a whole. It's genetic. Only in extremely small numbers, fully assimilated into a non-black culture can they do well.

Essentially, the idea of taxing "a group" low so that they invest more, and hire more, etc. is pointing to a symptom and trying to figure out whether it's working or not. Everyone, every single person, should have low taxes and no one should be able to escape the low taxes for any reason. Everyone should equally hate them.

Feel free to try to to refute anything I say on the matter. I'll happily make you look like a retard.

A whole lot of people in America might be packing pistols. A group of researchers including academics from Harvard and Northeastern universities has estimated that 3 million adult handgun owners carry a loaded gun every day, with the vast majority saying they do it for protection.

Handgun owners who carry tended to be younger, to be more often male, to live in the South, to have grown up in a gun-owning household, to own more than one type of gun, and to identify as politically conservative, according to a study published Thursday in the American Journal of Public Health.

In addition to the 3 million who carried a gun every day, another 6 million people carried a gun at least once a month, researchers estimated.
The study was the first in more than 20 years to look at why, how often, and in what way adults carry loaded handguns, the university said.

Researchers reviewed the handgun-carrying behavior of 1,444 gun owners, using data from a 2015 nationally representative survey designed by Mathew Miller of Northeastern and Deborah Azrael of Harvard. The University of Colorado also participated in the research.

The research also found that 9 million people carry a loaded gun on a monthly basis.
