[T1] LoDFix Plugin

Groover, you have to do anything to this to load or just put it in Tribes Directory? I downloaded Milk/your config so i didn't know if i needed to add shit to the shortcut ala ScriptGL way back when etc :x And do i have to set the LoD in clientprefs to something specific orsomething?

LINCHY!!!

moove config has the auto pluginloader so no shortcut +P stuff anymore, it loads all .dlls in /plugins so just slap it in there

i think it adds a variable in clientprefs, but it defaults to on and isn't really a live variable that takes effect in-game, only on init and i never tested it to see if it actually works

and sorry lemo my bro no updates for now, maybe later in june or something

so i've notice it takes a bit of fps bite while looking at buildings. Any way to disable LoD fix on just certain objects like minimize it to only the dts shapes instead of all objects?

no

iirc it shouldnt affect bases themselves but does affect turrets/antennas etc

back when i made it i tested fairly extensively and found that it was generally a 1-7% max FPS hit (7% when in-view weapon/antennae are switched up to full LoD)

there's 0 code overhead, the FPS loss is purely due to rendering certain things higher detail and will obviously take a minor hit because of that

I wonder what else you could do with this plugin. that's why I was wondering if it had any variables.

not really, it has a boolean true/false variable that i think you can use to disable it but its kinda pointless since thats all the plugin does so why disable it when you can just remove the .dll

i had test versions that only affected weapon LoD, only affected disc launcher LoD, ones that had live variables so i could change LoDs individually or all LoDs globally - but they were all far more complicated

this way was the simplest and used the least code to affect the most stuff, but it doesn't have any granular control or settings

pretty sure you're the only person out there playing tribes with a computer shitty enough to enough notice the FPS hit and i could probably make one that affects less stuff but then it would have more code overhead and would probably cause the same FPS drop so it would be counterproductive

yo shift tell those retard anni map makers to use "snap to grid" whenever possible damn wtf is wrong with u guys maybe that's ur fps problem

groov i dont understand this what does this do :(

it fixes the weapon level of detail shifting down and making your weapons look like crap depending on fov/angle and the animations go away
