Veteran X
Patch 4.3 Interview with Greg Street (Ghostcrawler)
Below is a quick summary and the full thanks to Simca. Be sure to read it so that you don't miss anything! (Extra info via Joystiq, Eurogamer, TenTonHammer, and Tankspot)

Deathwing Raid
-The new raid is called The Dragon Soul. It contains eight bosses, and boss 7 and 8 are both Deathwing.
-There will be a mount reward for killing Deathwing.
-Deathwing will only drop weapons.
-Heroic Deathwing will eventually be made easier after the top guilds kill it so that more people can experience it.
-Tier 13 will not be available at all from valor points.
-The new legendaries are two daggers (main hand and offhand) that are only usable by all three Rogue specs. -Combat Rogues will be made to use these daggers as well without a DPS loss. The questline will revolve around the pure black dragon (from the egg in the Badlands) and features several Rogue-centric elements.
-Melee classes will be getting a buff that is only active in the new raid to help them compete with ranged classes.

New Five Man Heroics
-You will enter the new 5-mans and raid in Caverns of Time.
-The first new 5-man is called "Endtime" where Nozdormu will show players the future if Deathwing wins.
-The second new 5-man, "Well of Eternity" is a journey into the past, the War of the Ancients specifically, to help Thrall recover the Dragon Soul to use against Deathwing.
-The third new 5-man, called "Hour of Twilight", has players escorting Thrall in present day to Wyrmrest Temple, where the final battle against Deathwing will take place.

Looking for Raid
-Looking for Raid probably won't share a lockout with Normal and Heroic raids.
-Looking for Raid gear will be stronger than the new five man heroics, but weaker than normal raids.

Other
-There will be raid melee buff across the board. The attack power buff will apply more to melee attack power than ranged attack power.
-Tank rotation changes that are related to survivability won't be in this expansion.
-Epic gems will drop in the new raid in Normal and Heroic only. Each player gets a geode when a boss is killed which has a small chance to contain an epic gem, most will have rare gems. It is rare enough to take all of 4.3 to replace all of your red rare quality gems with red epic gems.
-Firelands was nerfed so that players could see the content and continue progression instead of hitting a wall in heroic modes.
-"Quite a few" new profession recipes will be added.
-Northrend will require 2/3rd of the experience it does now, making leveling alts faster.
-Corrupted Ashbringer won't be available for transmogrification from any vendor.
-Old PvP armor will come back for transmogrification.

Yay more leveling buffs for altitis!

brb selling a couple hundred stacks of Pyrite Ore and 150 Chimera's Eyes.

"Quite a few" recipes = 1 - 2 per, or maybe they'll just make alchemy recipes to use blue gems and/or ore/herbs to make purple gems. It would be nice to think they are implying the purple gems will be more rare and less "mass-produced" but I'm sure they'll throw it into crafting recipes somehow. Next expansion is going to have to blow some minds to retake the ground lost with this one. And that's assuming they can get it out before or around the release dates for ToR and GW2.

So the new 5-man heroics will basically be like the ICC ones, with a little story and shit and some kind of "progression". How thoughty...

Whatever happened to the Titan classes/skills etc? Remember in one expansion for a while you could do things like weave fire into Ice Lance or Poison your 2her etc?

*googles*

Paths of the Titans - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

Apparently Pandaren will become a reality as well.

What we need is another hero class. Maybe a Ranged/Melee hybrid or a melee healer or I don't know. DKs were awesome. They had a wicked starting zone, they are still fun to play, they are a natual evolution of a class. It would be really interesting to see what could be done with a class now.

I would love a Monk-type class that can only use Fist weapons (new nunchuk weapon? Whip weapon?) and do leaping attacks and melee aoe and maybe tank via deflection and absorbtion with some sort of chi/chakra healing system. (So he'd be in cloth only but be able to Bruce Lee himself to like 90% dodge or whatever).

What about a Samurai class? Like swords only, either long 2h or 1h sword with 1h dagger but with cool armor and earth-based/air-based magics?

I dunno, just random thoughts while pooping.

Path of the Titans turned into the third level of glyphs. The reasoning was instead of trying to use PotT to correct the problems of glyphs, they just decided to fix glyphs.

No offense JM5K but they didn't even have the classes balanced at all in PvE or PvP even before they threw in DKs, I'm not very hopeful it'll ever be balanced at all. Much less adding in a new monk-like class. They would probably have to gut the entire system and start from scratch from the ground up with that in mind. And let's be serious, they never really thought too hard about PvP in general when they finally released Classic/Vanilla. It is mainly a PvE game, and PvP was more of an afterthought.

I'm sure Diablo 3 and the Heart of the Swarm will see them through this WoW lull until they throw out the next expansion to compete with the next MMOs coming out. I dunno it just feels like since mid-Wrath they have been losing momentum/ground at a serious clip.

Obviously not but my point remains. Why would they throw in yet a new class they will have to spend time trying in futility to balance when the system already isn't even balanced? That's like looking at a pile of shit and saying, "You know what this pile needs? It needs ZEBRA shit, I'm sure that will help!" It would make extra work for the devs to make another class and as this expansion is somewhat shown they aren't in the position to be innovative.

dude balance is a huge problem in this game

we cannot pvp if no balance

we cannot hunt for the best of the best items if no balance

how r we going 2 get gold n armor n stuff if they is not balancing

dogg this is bad news bears

This expansion has had more content than any previous expansion. I think the only lost ground is due to them merging 10 and 25man raiding so a lot of guilds were able to trim the fat and run with a lean roster. That's been great for scheduling and shit but terrible for min/maxing (for our raid and many others). At the same time a lot of people who would get a 2nd chance at upgrades each week from 10mans were hurt and guilds like mine don't do anything for alts which was one of the highlights of TBC (selling bear mounts + alt raids) and Wotlk (selling Ulduar mounts + alt & GDKP raids).

Challenging content was good because in some cases there was a sense of accomplishment that I hadn't seen since M'uru in Sunwell, but at the same time I like to play alts on off nights and I refuse to PUG raid so I don't do much 5-6 days out of the week.

There are entire guilds making a living just playing WoW and PVP tournaments for $100k+, how much money do you make playing tribes season 13?

Maybe today you hate the player and not the game, 12 million play wow, 12 total play tribes.

Just saying it's pretty easy to point fingers from the outside, just know that harboring deep love for a game in which you never competed or were recognized in is much more bizarre than playing a massively multiplayer game with friends.

I will still pick you over poopsayo though if there is a tribes pickup; just let me know when there is more than 7 in the server or I won't come.

It just feels like the spent more time on revamping the 1 - 60 content than they did on the new content. And the five cata zones simply felt like "classic" in that there wasn't a new world/content. I'm sure the cut from 10 to 5 levels didn't help the matter at all. Wrath had much more actual quest storyline and made it "feel" less grindy. I know a bunch of you don't give a fuck about quests but to me I could tolerate it because the quests and storyline at least gave some sort of purpose outside of the whole "Go kill X creatures and come back to me and I'll find another chore for you".

The Cata zones?

Vashj'ir - Probably the biggest quest "blueball". A lot of scripted events and progression through quest hubs made it feel like you were doing something. You are waylaid by that huge kraken heading to Tol Barad off the coast of SW. You are thrown into the sea and pretty much fight a losing battle to survive, rescue survivors, and rally them against the naga. All the while not only finding a way to signal for help but discovering the purpose of the naga's presence and culminating in the naga conspiring with the Faceless Ones to assault the Abyssal Maw and take it by force from the Tidehunter. It was the best overall zone in the expansion, and it had the most lackluster ending when they cancelled the raid dungeon down there claiming the Throne of Tides 5-man dungeon was enough.

Deepholm - Probably second was Deepholm. You are asked to assist the Earthen Ring on by entering the maelstrom into Deepholm. Through various hubs you realize the Twilight's Hammer are, under orders of Deathwing, to steal off with the pieces of the World Pillar. And you investigate this and attempt to recover them so the rift between the worlds can be repaired, keeping Azeroth from caving in on Deepholm. Doing so brings you into conflict with the natural denizens of the place, eventually rallying the Stonemother's forces to expel the Twilight's Hammer and repair the world pillar. It was very well done, it could have used a better ending event but it was well done.

Twilight Highlands - This place was a nice starter but a terrible finisher. Each side finds its way to the highlands, and befriend the local factions of the Dragonmaws and Wildhammers. After you do that, and a couple quests after the direction and purpose dissolves. You just wander around doing quests with small storylines that don't really have any connection, and certainly no quest to point you into the Bastion as a raid.

Hyjal - Further down, we have this one. Hey let's recycle the oldest raid boss and make a bunch of quests here! There is some connection but a lot of the hubs are just plain silly. I mean come on, grabbing woodland creatures and pulling bears out of trees? You are doing silly, seemingly pointless things in an attempt to push back the firelord. Barring the recycling, the whole thing doesn't have the weight the other zones did.

Uldum - Herp derp... I think this zone was made last because it has little to no connection to the rest of the expansion. So... Deathwing showed up and... He mutated some of the cat-centaur people, I guess freed the windlords and... Left? So... What is the plan for this place? Oh right, if you bothered doing all the silly Indiane Jones-esque quests which reek of cheese then you'd know they were hiding some planet-formating "reorigination device" in the Halls and they threw in Gob-Hitler's nonsense as Deathwing's minions to acquire it. Lolwut?

I'm not saying you should have epic storylines every single time, but at this stage in Blue's game they should at least make zones and quest hubs that bare some resemblance to the overall "theme" of the expansion. 2 out 5 failed to deliver any of it, and the 1 that was most complete fell flat on the cancellation, 1 felt like complete filler and 1 was a complete abortion that never should have seen the light of day.

Eight years and three expansions later and THIS is the latest offering? Where's all that "We learned a whole bunch about how to tell stories through our game" nonsense they talked about during the end of Wrath?

becuz there r people making money playing ths igame

i will get fat and spend money 2 play this game

cuz that makes sense

Calling Vashj'ir the best zone...

All the zones were shit. Absolute and utter shit. Uldum was the only one that kept my interest but only because I like Ancient Egyptian-related things and Indiana Jones.

Also, Daval didn't mutate the Ramkahen people. The servants to Al'Akir returned the bad ones to their original stone state, freeing them from "the curse of the flesh".

Those that defeated Algalon (or at least know of the fight/the event in Dalaran) would realize Halls of O and Algalon's mission before defeating him are related.

You play a game that took you 12 years to get decent at, that 20 people play and where no one likes you, respects you or cares about you.

It does not surprise me that

A: $15 / month is too much for you to handle
B: You do not understand how being social makes gaming more fun
C: You think you get fat playing WoW and having fun, but not in sitting by yourself in your room watching hours of other people playing tribes, trying to learn how they played when you were 7.

Poops I get that you are sad because you have trolled your forum into oblivion and are now forced to graze beyond your comfort level, but no one cares about you or your opinion here (and Feannag is weirdly accepted so). Feel free to continue to be retarded but know that the admin will just keep deleting your nonsense (whoever the admin is).

I thought Uldum was super boring. Vash was the most interesting but looking back I think it took literally forever to finish.

I still love old Deadmines and SM the most *shrug* Strat as well.

My point is the overall storyline of Vash was more concrete than the rest of the zones. The naga may not have been aligned with Deathwing at the time, but at least they had a plan and a motive (make a deal with the faceless ones to defeat the tidehunter and take over the Abyssal Maw). That's why I liked the place, despite the fact it is all underwater and maybe you are just hatin' on the z-axis. I did enjoy Descent a lot of that could have had something to do with it.

I never liked uldum because in the grand scheme it had very little correlation, if any. Deathwing shows up, frees windlords, and they corrupt the cat people in his name and... what? Are they forming armies to march into Azeroth? It's like they didn't even know about the reorigination device and they just wanted to kill their uncorrupted brothers. There didn't seem to be much of a plan, and the nonsense with the circus and shit was just dumb, and running around with goblin-Hitler was irritating. And the Thone sits like and it was worse than Malygos. I mean at least Malygos had some sort of plan (pull all the mana out of the world and shoot it into space), Al'Akir and his conclave seem to just be, "Well... We're just gonna hang out here and /flex and wait for raids to show up and kill us."
