[T2] Classic and Base++

I play T1, I have been playing it for years and even though I have taken breaks, I still enjoy playing it to this day, even in competition.
I never bought T2 because of the negative reactions that were spread when the game just came out (UE's and whatnot) and because I didn't have a decent computer at the time.
But now that I do have a good machine, and the time to spend on it, I would really like to try this T2 ... so my final question is... what do you recommend? Tribes2 Classic or Base ++ .

Mind you I don't know anything about either two, it just seems they are the most liked mods of Tribes 2 (from reactions I've seen on these boards)

None... but classic is closer to T1 than base is.

Go Classic. Base++ is a dead codebase.

i doubt there are even any base++ servers up anymore.
