tribes 1 master down again

In addition to the shutdowns of various Sierra games and T2 I just noticed the T1
master is also down. This time it is different because of the rumors of a sale.
 
I'm hoping that, like last time, they'll be back up shortly. Let's hope.

This is how I play:
edit: tribes.exe +connect 209.223.236.114:28001

Or if you have a recent master list, just use it.
 
NoFiX is correct, just don't refresh your list.
There are also various replacement master servers, t1m1.tribes0.com:28000 is one.
 
There are alternate masters available.

They pretty much all mirror each other so which ever one you want to use is fine.

The master I'm using isn't down

It says it's down, but it reloads/refreshes the list anyways as it tries to tell me that it can't contact the master server
 
It is down, but Tribes after finding out the master is down just does something similar to "Refresh Vis" in which it refreshes all the servers. The problem is that if one of those servers is down for just that fraction of a second that you do your refresh it'll disappear from your game server list forever. You also wouldn't be able to get new servers or new IPs/ports to servers if those were to change. Using one of the alternate masters would allow you to see those servers, if they report to at least one of the alternate masters.

That's just Tribes refreshing the cached list obtained from a previously functional master query.
 
Unfortunately two of the five alternate masters are hosed right now.

Someone apparently tried to set up a master server and a game server using the
same IP/port. Queries to it would sometimes get you a master server response.

This has apparently crashed tribes0.com and tribesmasterserver.com. If you are
using these as your master and not seeing changes this is why.

The game server that is responding wacky is 70.89.253.149:28001 anni 2.3 te
"a sniper's dream".
