I just re-installed my OS 3 days ago, and I don't have everything in place to convert stuff.

This is pretty much what I'm trying to figure out. Blending the tops to a perfectly macthing atmosphere. It's hard to do (for me anyway).

shaded planet. erased 3/4 and blurred it in, and then set the transparency really low and then changed the hue/saturation.

i've just been messing with ps the last few days just to get to know it better.
