boston palyed the worst team in the playoffs in the first round....i think carolina will make it interesting, but boston still wins in 6.
pens/caps is the NHL's wet dream.

As a Washington fan, thank god the rangers suck or else that game would not have been 1-1 going into the third.

that pretty much sums it up
if they play like that against pittsburgh, they will get lit the **** up

yeah i was laughing because i was saying to my buddy as we were watching the game "wow watch carolina mysteriously come back and tie this and win in overtime to get the OV-Crosby matchup"
well, they didn't need overtime.
anyhow, i dunno if you've been watching the washington series but OV has been making a lot of really dumb mistakes. last night he was staying on the ice 40-60sec AFTER his shift... dude was trying way too hard to score.
plus he wasn't backchecking at all and wasn't even doing anything in his own end other than just standing there still at the blue line saving energy. i hope boudreau has the balls to show him some tape because he was being ridiculous that game.

yah, i dunno. i watch him all the time, and he doesnt play great defense....but then again neither do the caps. if you watch malkin and crosby, they play pretty well in their own end. hopefully that is the difference in the series.
varlamov did play well against the rangers, but they are pretty offensively inept. pens should be able to get through the soft D and score some goals.

yes, this is the key to the series in my mind
it should be interesting to see how varlamov handles being peppered... once he let's in 4-5 goals a couple times, i wonder how he'll hold up mentally.
even though washington has what it takes to explode on pittsburgh and win the series, with the way both teams are playing i have to think pittsburgh has a significant edge

he's have to win the vezina first
i actually think he has potential, he's pretty agile and fast, he just needs a good goalie coach

impressed the **** out of me vs the rangers, but I'll hold judgement to see how he does vs a real offensive team.

When the series ended, when the Rangers went through the handshake line following last night's 2-1 Game 7 defeat, Chris Drury used his left hand to congratulate the Capitals.
That's because, as he told The Post, the captain had played the first round with a broken right hand he sustained late in the April 9 victory over the Flyers in the Garden finale that clinched a playoff berth.
Drury, who sustained a non-displaced fracture when hit by a shot, missed the season finale in Philadelphia then the opening game against the Caps. He returned, but with now understandable limited effectiveness -- unable to shoot or pass with authority, unable to play a hard game
