It's time for stock talk! So, I haven't bought stocks for a few years because I thought they were overvalued for a long time and because I couldn't face the risk of losing. It's time to change that. I'm not really looking for day trading type stocks, but generally something I can hold for a minimum of a year. I'm certainly not opposed to blue chip/dividend type stocks. I am more interested in big share price growth though - so riskier stuff. I have been very lightly searching for biomedical stocks related to stem cell research and organ growth. Does anyone know of any companies on the market, or perhaps not on the market that I could look into?

I'm really interested in finding a company that grows organs, or owns any piece of the technology to make a critical part of that process. It seems to be a lot of institutions doing the work at the moment. Anyone find any companies? The lattice manufacturers, the bio reactors? some other piece?

Well, it's a combination of A) not willing to risk, and B) yeah, and thinking they're over valued.

Now, I'm trying to look at something new.

Don't go into the market when champagne corks are flying through the roof and everybody's like Hallelujah! Unless you have tons of money to fool around with, wait. It might take a year or a few, but the crash will come as it always does. How severe it will be this time nobody knows, but when things are in ashes and everybody's talking doom is the time to go in again. Never mind all time high or low because you can never nail those perfectly anyway.

Biotech is an interesting business and so is robotics. I invested a small sum in ROBO Global Robotics and Automation Index ETF and they have been up 69.56 % since January 2010. Won't buy more of them now though as market is overvalued as you said. Instead I have invested a bit in a bear fund on a 5-year plan or until the ashes and brimstone phase.

How do you feel about GE? Their stock seems to be tanking. I'm reading up now, on why.
