Holy fucking shit, as if I needed any more reasons to stay out of the US

No, but more food production means a higher likelihood of foodborne illnesses. It's harder to maintain standards, and even if you've established strict guidelines an illness has a greater chance of infecting more people quickly in a larger population should one begin to spread. This isn't complicated.

this is literally the exact same pseudoscience logic amadeus tried to argue by saying slavery caused technological advancement. stick to facts, not gross suppositions

facts:
1) the video improperly sources statistics from the UK
2) the CDC study hilariously casts doubt on the validity of the UK data

no more needs to be said. it is a propaganda video

I don't consider it a gross supposition or pseudoscience to suggest that more food produced is likely to result in higher volumes of infected food. You're right though about the video sources.

Hey, whatever you have to tell yourself to stay the fuck away, I'll support you.

So yeah, our food is totally poison and unfit for human consumption. Do not come here. You will die. I mean, if the food doesn't get you, the constant shootings definitely will. Hell, I died six times just on the way home today.

Seriously though, don't come here. We're full. And you'd hate it anyway because it's nothing like whatever socialist utopia you call home. We don't even have any Muslims. I'm sure they make great neighbors with their rich, vibrant culture of tolerance. You just can't find that here. So stay home. Waste of money to visit this shithole.

anyone mention having acid thrown in your face as something a little more important to worry about?

Hey, I’m American and could give two shits if you don’t want to come here.

Stay in the shithole you call home with your shithole government ideas.

America believes in small government and less regulation. If companies were killing people because of shitty business practices, the free market will solve that issue.

If I had to guess, a majority of those 480 deaths are from scumbags that dig through restaurant trash and eat the abundance of food we throw in the streets. Because this is fucking America.

Also... who fucking cares if a cow has to be chained to the bottom of a cage it’s whole life before the throat cut. So long as it tastes nice and the prices are low, what’s it matter?

you are fitting a hypothesis to the data. you are arguing that a linear increase in food production causes a non-linear or exponential increase in foodborne illness. citation desperately needed. if this were true, it would also be incredibly alarming - which is the purpose of this propaganda. you are falling for the same bad arguments by trying to explain the difference.

stop it. check the sources for yourself and see the difference in the data.
Burden of Foodborne Illness: Findings | Estimates of Foodborne Illness | CDC
https://acss.food.gov.uk/sites/default/files/multimedia/pdfs/fds2015.pdf

it is clear that apples are not being compared to apples. the 47.8 million illnesses figure is extrapolated from 128k hospitalizations which allows for huge margins of error - and that 128k suffers from extrapolation too because not all illnesses are foodborne and knowing the culprit is not cut and dried. on the other hand, there is NO specific source cited for the UK numbers.

the CDC sourced this study for 1996-2000 in england and wales which gives a figure of 22k hospitalizations yearly for foodborne illness. per capita, this is nearly identical to the figure given for the US by the CDC.

this is not a "well ok that's fine but... [gross supposition]" this is a "yeah, ok this is complete horseshit and I won't be arguing for garbage science from a youtube video".
