[So] We got new phones and got a credit for a Samsung TV. Picked one out and it was delivered Friday, but there's no file browser. I have all my stuff organized already, but the only thing I can find that will run on the TV is plex. **** plex, I just want a goddamn file browser. Is there one out there that will run on Samsung TV's?

mine lists network shares directly and i can browse the directories without an app . thats how i play my 4k vids , until i figure a good way to add them to my emby server.

Old TV did too, super simple setting up a shared directory and poking through it.

my smart tv i just click on source(s) and it lists all my input and shares and nas. i can add them to home screen or browse from there by folders

yup, modern tvs with file share support make streaming devices useless. my nvidia shield collecting dust mostly... unless tv doesnt support a codec, which happens once in a while.


sounds like dis samsung has deal with plex. probably can get around it with a media share/dlna app... unless it has some ****ty samsung only app store too.

This and i have a samasung

I use their Smart View desktop app to stream 1080p video from my gaming PC. I haven't tried playing any local network content directly from the TV.

i agree, plex is great

i dont love google but use "google cast" (chrome cast) for everything, including plex

it generally works well. google could do better as always
