Had to look it up. Apparently, anyone who is (relatively) privileged through a combination of hard work and a bit of luck, can't have empathy for those who are not. I think that's a crock of shit but that's just me

But they don't.

They give because they are basically forced to through various avenues, or because it benefits themselves in some way, not because of their empathetic nature towards the underprivileged. Remove tax benefits for charitable donations, then watch and see how fast donations dry up.

I have empathy for people I know or encounter personally, but someone I do not know or is halfway across the world, not so much. No idea what label fits that and don’t really care.

A capitalist is anyone who favors and participates in a market economy. Someone is always going to be "underprivileged" in such a system. What you're alluding to is redistribution of wealth to achieve equity, which is the end of a market economy and the death of capitalism.
