Today marks a new beginning for TribalWar. Over the last year we've been working to integrate more features into the site, with the overall goal to become the one-stop-shop for all your Tribes needs. We've been working hard to add everything you could possibly want. We've done this to make sure features will always be available to the community and that the quality will always be high.

Almost a year ago we started up WOFN, now the leader in Tribes-related Shoutcasting. We had a lot of high hopes for WOFN, and thanks to the excellent work of the WOFN staff we're proud to see those dreams have become reality. We know we can look forward to some historic and memorable casts from WOFN when Tribes: Vengeance competition hits its stride in the next few months.

A few months ago we restarted The Insider. As competition really get going again we'll be interviewing top players and top teams to see what makes them tick, and maybe giving out a few of their secrets. For those of you trying to figure out how to get to the highest ranks of Tribes competition, or just want to see what these guys are really like, The Insider will be the place to look.

A few weeks ago, we officially opened the new TribalWar Competition System. A ladder/league/tournament system has been one of our dreams for a very, very long time. Finally, we'll be able to make sure the Tribes community has a place to compete that will always be responsive to its needs. The TCS will be governed by the Tribes Competition Council; a group of community members that will shape how the TCS works. These community leaders will be elected by you on a regular basis, which means that they will be held accountable if they don't do what's best for the TCS. While the TCC will set the overall direction for the TCS, we knew we needed a new way to actually administer it. Normally, a ladder administrator is an appointed player from one of the teams on the ladder. Unfortunately, this type of admin can't help but have a personal bias towards some teams on the ladders. And when that bias comes into play there isn't a whole lot the wronged party can do. We decided the best solution is professional, unbiased administration. To implement this we've hooked up with iAdmins, a new company whose goal is to provide professional administration of online leagues and ladders. You'll always be able to get a response from these guys when a problem comes up, and since they come from outside the community you know that they don't have a personal stake in any disputes. iAdmins will be handling the day-to-day administration of the TCS. For more information on the TCC, check out its Charter. We expect to hold the first elections in the near future.

Last week we also took steps to improve TribalWar's uptime and reliability. We've moved hosts to Super Computer International, one of the leading developers of technology for multiplayer games. We believe SCI can provide the kind of dependability we're looking for. We've also been undergoing an extensive internal review of the structure and coding of TribalWar; rooting out problems and addressing issues that cause downtime. We're proud of the fact that since this review began two months ago our uptime has increased to over 99.9%. We're going to be continuously reviewing how the site works, so expect things to get even better.

And, obviously, today we got a new, sleeker look. Like it?

TribalWar will be having its 5th birthday this December. That's pretty old for a game site, but we're not going to rest on our laurels. Expect even more new features in the weeks and months to come. And of course we're always looking at our current features to figure out how to make them better. If you've got any ideas, be sure to let us know in our forums or in email. Even though we've added all this great new stuff, we'll always mainly be the site the community comes to talk, bitch, and just hang out.

Welcome to the new TribalWar. A lot like the old TribalWar. Only better.

Actually, the new look is stupid.

EDIT: Wait, I can't even say ghey anymore? What the eff...

EDIT2: Fukc, how shazbotty.

EDIT3: I hate this site...

how do you figure an uptime of 99.9%? if tw is down for even a total of 24 hours, that drops the uptime to 99.7%
