Why has tribes persisted?

Tribes was different to a lot of other games back then... also, there was a LOT less competition.
It's pretty hard to standout in the same way these days, and while there's a lot more people playing, there's also a lot more to choose from.

To be innovative at this point you'd pretty much need VR tribes which didn't result in people getting motion sick but good luck with that.

we're not ready for vr yet at least the human brain isn't truly capable of handling it without feeling like some kind of junky or crack head. vr is still fugly as hell too so even visually it still has a long way to go.

once it gets good though they'll just project whatever it is they want you to play into that little brain. once they start that you wont even be able to walk down the street without a forced projection in the form of a commercial.

brainwaves are tricky things, and VR is well on its way to fucking with our brainwaves more than we already have with acceptable forms of radiation that engulfs us.

yeah I've got a rift and I'm good with games where it only moves if you do... or teleportation style movement (eg. robo recall). But add in locomotion movement and I'll end up getting nauseous after a while.

I don't agree with it screwing up your brainwaves though... might screw with your eyesight over time though.

Let me guess, you got some laughs at high school doing this and you've kept it going the rest of your life? Must be lonely. Good luck breaking the habit.
 
Ya, I see you guys are still kickin ass. I reinstalled Tribe over the break. I was rusty af but I managed a few good maps. Glad you guys are aliveish, cheers.
