I usually hunt/mine in either Piekura or Mara (.5 and .4) and rarely run into any trouble. Maybe I've just been lucky thus far, but I have yet to killed by another player.
All assault class ships have incredible base resistances for both their shields and armor. People then patch any holes in those resistances with armor hardeners or the shield equivielent then are able to tank all day against anything.
Be really cool if they gave weapons that could lower those resistances. Oh well, next expansion i guess.
