[Official] Forza 3 thread [360]

Ahh thanks. I wondered what the Class and PI was for at the events.

The starting last thing just sucks. You're punished for bringing a competitive car to a race if the event is short or the track is tough. Feels like something they'd put in a crappy arcade racer. In FM2 there usually was one great car that could keep up with you to keep things interesting without having to blast through the field like a maniac.

I did some digging online and found that your place on the starting grid is a combination of PLAYER LEVEL and CAR PI, weighted to level.

Driver Level 1 - 4 start in 8th
Driver Level 5 - 9 start in 7th
Driver Level 10 - 14 start in 6th
Driver Level 15 - 19 start in 5th
Driver Level 20 - 24 start in 4th
Driver Level 25 - 29 start in 3rd
Driver Level 30 - 34 start in 2nd
Driver Level 35 - 50 start in 1st

I didn't notice if I was actually moving up in the grid when I hit 10. I had been checking the grid layout nearly every race and I was always last. I'll look next race. I should start in 6th according to this, assuming I have the highest PI.

Why can't I just race a solo heat lap? Isn't this a sim?

I don't wreck... ever. So I guess I could bump up the damage.

I need the line for the new tracks. I'll switch it off when I've raced them enough to be comfortable.

i use the braking only line.

i use anti lock brakes.

thats it i think... i will post everything next time i turn it on :p.

manual (w/o clutch.. don't have a clutch)

only "assist" I use

personally im shocked travace uses the line, that shit is for noobs and hes far from it

edit: oh yea my hud is turned off completely and im in dashboard mode.

I race with abs/tcs and all that shit turned off. Braking line only. Realistic damage, manual without clutch. Medium AI. You're all wimps :(

i just want to race my WRX in game...is the car worth it or is it a noob car that I can use initially and won't give the game any replay value

it shoudl be noted that i've never played any of this shit so i'm totally clueless

If this one is like the last one, you can drop an STi block in along with giant turbo blah blah blah. It won't be as good as a car that's meant for a class without too many mods, but you can still do well with it.

Wimps...

Or the computer shifts better than I ever could. Better than an automatic has any business shifting.

If I'm on a new track (of which 80% of these are) then I want to know what the game thinks the optimum racing line is. Both so I know where the AI will go, and so I know how to approach turns. You can sort of "read" a turn in a real car, on a real track, but not so much in a game -- especially if you've never raced the track before. Let's be realistic. I'm almost through Season 2 and haven't touched half of the major track locations yet.

The line has a lot of flexibility anyway. And sometimes it's just wrong.

If you're such a baller, Jonez, turn up the AI.

I use the full line. I don't feel like memorizing every turn on every track.

I have ABS on now, but may turn it off. I barely notice the indicator coming on so far anyway. Last year with the MS wheel the brakes were too touchy and you needed ABS but this year feels better for now (might change when I get to the faster cars).

i used to spend hours playin forza1/2 and had top 250 times
if u want to get better time, turn off the line, it just hinders you
i would leave abs and tcs on though
