That is true. I can either become a hermit and disconnect myself entirely from society, or I can hear about how a basketball players are more important than everyone else. There are definitely options on the table, but I'm not ready to go full knee-length beard hermit just yet. I settle for "reading just enough to know what is going on," and what is going on is that Kobe's death filled out 10 out of 10 of the front page articles on a major news website.
Ain't nothing wrong with people enjoying boobs and b-ball.
I just wish our society saw more value in people that progressed medicine, technologists, scientists, and those who helped the homeless, etc. We really don't give two ****s about the people that really matter. America's education is a laughing stock and nobody seems to care. We keep paying teachers **** salaries, but we pay people that can jump up and down real good a wild amount of money. Our values are ****ed.

But yeah, they are over hyping the **** out of this.

Yeah, but that's just it. Sports players are mega well known.
Can you name a single nobel prize winner from the past decade?
I'll bet 99.9% of Americans cannot.
While they blasting Kobe's name on the news, there is some dude doing some incredible **** that nobody cares about, cus that's nerd ****.
We probably could have colonized Mars by now, but that's nerd ****.
I pity anyone signing up to be a teacher...
Being a teacher should be right up there with Lawyer, Doctor, etc, but we see them as "babysitters," how sad.
You will see the long-term effects of this 3 or 4 decades down the line. It's gonna be bad...
