The root cause actually goes back to when the gvt decided to start making loopholes in the tax code in the first place. EVERYONE should pay a flat percentage rate, that way EVERYONE has skin in the game. The "poor" would actually be far more concerned about their tax dollars being wasted since the left claims it means more to them.

As the code stand right now, they pay little to nothing yet reap the benefits of large tax returns through EIC. What other tax system allows you to receive more back than what you pay into it?
