The real problem would be the second person inside. If the one were alone the padding might have kept them safe. Putting another 200 pound object inside, means both people smash together all the way down.
 
Take your girlfriend/wife and your dog and put them both in the trunk of your car. Come back 2 hours later and guess the one who would be happy to see you.
