what do you guys use to convert .rec files to something that could be uploaded to youtube or a more universal file type?

I don't think there is any converting. Just run the demo and record the video using Fraps.

Record something and then take a look at the recordings folder and see what file extension you have. then we can talk.

.rec files contain the netstream the client receives from the server during gameplay. They need to be rendered by Tribes and recorded by another program. I use Fraps, but you can use a screenshot script or other program. Either method will create huge files that you will need to compress before or after editing, more information here: Annihilation Mod • View topic - How do i make a tribes video?
