Steam games usually are released on Valve time, which is 10am PST on the day of release.

I don't think D2D releases keys in advance for preloading.

and it isnt really at all like having a few healthpacks spread throughout a level

everyone on your team can step behind a wall and let their health recharge in a matter of seconds

cant wait till gaming in general gets so bad that someone invents Bullet Regen to counter the bull**** health regen due to litterally being able to empty your entire 200~ bullets into one person and still not be able to kill them...

Your health won't regen all the way back up to full, much like the health system in farcry 2. To get to full health you'll need a medic. Medics can instantly refill a teammates health and buff it beyond full.

Medics can also revive teammates.

I indirectly enjoy regenerating health.

When you don't have regen and survive a fight it forces you to play like a *****. Playing like ***** sucks for everyone involved.

if you put 200 bullets in someone and they didnt die, you might want to try actually hitting them.

I don't see how health regeneration is a problem. People who have played Brink have said that you die a lot in this game.

Also, obviously health regeneration is not active while you are getting shot at.

Using health regen instead of health kits eliminates one way that skill and knowledge can give a player an advantage. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. A game can only take so many of those kinds of skill/knowledge elements.

In old-school shooters like Quake, knowing the locations and timers on all the health/armor/weapon pickups was hugely important. But balancing that was the fact that the games were otherwise very simple. No different classes to learn, no skills, rarely any objectives other than a flag. Just a bunch of weapons, the level layouts, and the movement mechanics.

Compare that to a game like Brink.. With multiple classes, each with their own health, movement mechanics, skills, weapon combinations, and whatever other customization options are available, there's a lot more to learn. Trading out health pickups for health regen keeps the learning curve at a reasonable slope.

maybe you're a bit dense but just for example, 1v1 if you were to land 200 bullets hell even 50 on someone you would damn well expect them to be dead, where as with regenerating health it becomes possible that they could very well still be alive.

meanwhile bullets don't regen so therefore you can waste you're entire stockpile of ammo and still not earn a kill. Its unlikely but considering that you do this multiple times with different people and the majority of them are able to scoot away before you get a chance to finish them off. It becomes a heavy drain on your limited stockpile of ammunition, you then have to then run to a "soldier" to get more ammunition, meanwhile they just have to hide behind a ****ing wall to get back to 100%.

not many old t1 arena people still around

This game looks like a fun alternative to most of the console shooters at least, will play simply for that reason... still waiting on a good PC only shooter

Does D2D even give you a key that you would be able to activate on steam?

edit: It seems like we'll just have to wait and see.. some D2D games give you a key in the same format that Steam accepts, but some have different formats that don't work.

edit again: The Brink page on D2D specifically says that it installs through Steam!
